Had absolutely everything going for them here as far as catching breaks is concerned and still fecked it right up .
You've hit the nail on the head there Animal.

Wigans points deduction was self inflicted , they were cheats and a few more will get found out eventually , we weren't lucky in that respect , we abided by the rules which all clubs should do , Lucky to stay up? Not for me, some got promoted on PPG dont forget that's being lucky !!

Pretty unprecedented though Roma that new owners would come in at Wigan and within weeks place them in administration irrespective of any breaking of ffp .

I'm not defending their shenanigans by any means because they had a team in the championship that they didn't have the money to warrant .

It was their voluntarily decision to give up 15 points so close to the end of the season where we caught the break .

I've never known that happen before .

Have you seen any figures / balance sheets for PMG that give you reason to suggest they have no financial clout Grumps?

I think they have incredible financial clout.
But I would be very surprised if they chose to use it at Barnsley at this moment in time.
Which is a bit of a conundrum really - because if they don’t spend a bit to stay up - then relegation will cost them £££millions.

No - the owners were NOT lucky last season.
Last season wasn’t based on luck.
Worth remembering THE DIRECTORS employed a brilliant manager that was highly successful - basically because he simplified the tactics of the team.

The players knew exactly what their roles were last season when they entered the field.
Ironic really that the players brought in by these owners are suited to the style of play that Ismael employs - more so than what the WBA players are.

And yet it’s the directors that have insisted that vertical football had to be abandoned.
Consequently we had players wandering the field from the start of this season not knowing what their roles are.
Tactics this season have been over complicated.
And from that confidence of the young players has dropped through the floor.

If the directors wanted to change the playing style - under the circumstances of losing the manager and back room staff you would have thought that Schopp would have been under instruction to continue the same tactics of the previous season and slowly introduce a more passing game throughout the season.

Instead - the directors decided to throw the baby out with the bath water.
Those are the actions that portrays an arrogant and reckless board of directors.

To salvage anything from this season the team has to revert back to the simple tactics the players understand.
Which means bringing in adequate players for the target striker position to cover for the loss of Dike.
Morris + another (plus a spare in case of injury or suspension).
Also to add to that an experienced midfielder.

IMO we need only these 3 players to transform the fortunes of the team.
We can afford to let Freiser and Woodrow go to cover some of the costs.
But other than that we should retain the rest to give ourselves a chance.

Let’s see what happens - it’s going to be interesting.

PMG is just a special purchase vehicle Arby.

    There's red flags abound mate:

Using leveraging to obtain the club.

Issuing a statement two summers ago that the club were just two months from being insolvent.

If it looks like a duck. If it waddles like a duck. If it quacks like a duck. It's a duck?

Yep, I'd already got concerns from the points that you've raised here Grumps plus the fact that leveraging seems to be the 'american' preferred business model. I've assumed that all their other purchases are in a similar situation. Just wondered if you'd seen any business accounts or information on the various owners' personal wealth? I wouldn't be surprised if the financial situation turned out to be a car crash.

I'm not so sure Nudge. I've had my suspicions that it could be all bluff and bluster for a while. They're definitely here to make money, which is about the only thing we can be certain of at the moment. But until I see proof of significant business or personal wealth which backs up their purchase of so many. Clubs then I'll remain sceptical.
