Been thinking along the same lines. Our disciplinary record isn't good. As Head Coach he should have shown more control than he did. Yes, it was a penalty but our equaliser was a little 'iffy' as well. Have to take the good with the bad.

I can see the EFL absolutely throwing the book at the Boss after him losing it at the end of the Cardiff game.
I have to say if he had been someone like Conte, Mourinho, Tuchel or Klopp doing the same I would have been hoping they would have been severely punished but half expecting some or all of them to get away with it. Can’t see VI getting away with it though.
Also despite he tries to come across as a bit tough, my way or the highway, he doesn’t seem to be able to control the players on the pitch. Our record of red cards is appalling and isn’t helping our bad run of results, both through suspensions as well as the individual games.
He needs to get a grip both on himself and the team or else doesn’t matter who he signs or what support he gets or doesn’t get from the owner, then we are only going one way and that isn’t into the Premier league.
What do others think?

Totally agree with you! That said - they should throw the book at him as what example is he setting for the players and kids watching who play in football teams!! Our goal was totally off side so it could be argued it was Karma!
Johnstone should be hammered with a fine as running up the pitch was plain stupid. He’s a liability and does he have x-ray eyes or had a pair of binoculars?
Many would say Val and Johnstone contributed to the shocking scenes and undermined the referee even if he was wrong!
Abuse of referees is shocking at any level and players should be carded for even arguing with them as seen by some of the Premier teams.
Bit like a speeding fine - any decision should be final

I think people are reading too much into his actions. The players weren't obliged to play up because their boss was p iss ed off with the ref'. Should he have been more professional? Yes.
Did he lead them on a head long charge towards the ref' and Cardiff subs? No, Johnstone got into bother on his own account because he hadn't covered himself in glory during the game and was upset in the immediate aftermath.
Did anyone get a load of Patrick Vieira recently? Bit of a difference. People lauded Bilic for his passion and moaned about Allardyce being a miserable fat b@st@rd.
The world keeps spinning and people find something else to moan about. Such is the nature of football and life.
Johnstone was a disgrace and like you said - probably because he was s hite and gave Derby the three points. Needs to sign a contract ( yes with a release clause in his favour ) or do one! Can’t be doing with it and glad he’s out for three games to be honest!
Oh for the days of Ben Foster - he was sheer class!
I don't think the linesman (assistant) had a clear view given another Albion player was in his line of vision as the ball was played. Goal stands. Tough titty Cardiff.
The penalty was one of the most straightforward decisions he'll have and he bottled it leading to the events at the end.
Johnstone's red has already been upgraded to a three game ban for violent conduct. Cue FA fine for not controlling our players while the true villain of the piece walks away without a care in the world to fk up again (sorry, officiate another game).
Tough tittie Cardiff when the error favours us - the villain of the piece walks away without a care in the world when it goes against us.
Says everything that is wrong with football. Either we respect the game and the referee, and yes they make mistakes, as do officials in all sports, or we cause a riot because we don’t get our own way.
By the way if our forwards don’t keep getting the basics wrong, like missing sitters, then it wouldn’t matter as we would have already been 3 or 4 up, in most of the games over the last couple of months.
Let’s all spit our dummies out and go and have a good cry!
Agreed but equally the ref could say it was not clear for whatever reason in his eyes. Refs make mistakes as do surgeons who can’t bring someone back to life again if they f uck up!
Had Mowatt not been stupid and had we a decent striker like the teams above us - no discussion point!
Every time with Val getting to be the same story - missed opportunities - refs - teams hard to break down etc. Mowbray seems to be churning out decent football without a bunch of players who think they are better than they are!
Your first paragraph completely misses the point. The ref and linesman/assistant can't/shouldn't give decisions on what they can't see. So they didn't. That's why it's tough. Not because it's Cardiff. They weren't positioned to rule it out so played on.
As for the penalty appeal it was as clear as day and in both lines of sight. Even the Cardiff manager has openly stated it should have been a penalty. That's why it's a clear mistake on their part, regardless of it going against West Bromwich Albion. These things happen but it's a right pain when it's so obvious.
It wasn't given though and I've clearly stated VI should have been more professional and the players shouldn't have got involved. But they did, so it's on them. If VI gets in bother, it's on him.
Yes, the villain of piece goes onto officiate again unencumbered by his and his assistant's poor positioning in the first instance and bottle job of the latter.
I'm in complete agreement with your comments re not taking our chances but don't remember stating otherwise so I'll move on.
As for people spitting their dummies out it was you who started the thread because you don't think VI's standards match those required of our manager. I stated he could have been more professional but acknowledge it's a passionate game.
Have a nice evening.
Apparently Johnstone appeared to throw a punch at Adam Flint. He needn't have worried because he hasn't connected with a punch all season!
