Sturgeons puppet caught using out of date data to justify current restrictions.
Ooooops.

Its the Omcron variant - but given how the determine these not sure i trust any figures being released now. I know of someones dad who was diabetic they got covid, wasnt picked up as they focused on covid not diabetes - amistake in the hospital as despite being told he was diabetic it took 2 days for them to ask is he diabetic but which time his condition had detrioated (not due to covid), he died due to diabetitis but because they had covid its put down as covid. Just an example.
I see the Six Nations may be getting moved to English stadiums as a way of getting around playing in front of no fans. Wales exploring the option of using Spurs' stadium and Scotland St. James' Park. A proper 'f*ck you' to their respective governments if this goes ahead.
I see your point but it’s a bit of an oxymoron — we have better tools now which may mean longer time to death but those same tools would inevitably mean a lower death rate.
On a wider note I’d have no objection to any of these restrictions if they were voluntary. If someone doesn’t feel comfortable going to the football that’s fine, but to ban people from going to games is over the mark IMO.
The original argument was that you might pass the virus on directly or indirectly to a vulnerable person. That argument is gone now as a) the virus is everywhere so everyone will be exposed at some point and b) people who are vulnerable will be vaccinated and boosted and/or will have access to the new antiviral drugs, which appear to have an extremely high success rate.
So that changes things to everyone for themselves; you decide what level of vaxxing and restrictions you want based on how high the risk of covid appears to you.
Same as you can choose how many cigarettes to smoke, how much beer to drink and whether you want to play dangerous sports that might kill or injure you — maybe even making you a ‘burden’ on the NHS.
So, three main changes from today:
People who test positive for Covid in Scotland can end self-isolation after seven days if they have no fever and record two negative lateral flow tests.
Household contacts of people with the virus will be allowed to take lateral flow tests rather than self-isolating, as long as they have had their booster.
Asymptomatic people who return a positive lateral flow test will no longer have to confirm their result with a PCR.
