Of course. I wasn't actually attacking Queen Nic. It's strange though, given the JRG's statement, that we may be opening up so soon after being peddled the whole 'mass gatherings are a strain on our emergency services ' line. What's changed? Are games not going to be policed? Are more emergency services being made available? Or was that just an excuse used to try & mask the sh!t the beddery?

In fairness (and while I don't agree outdoor mass gatherings needed to be cancelled) the SG were being cautious. I'm guessing they'll claim it saved the NHS in Scotland from being overwhelmed but that's going to be tough to prove...

Curious to know what sources are you reading that are telling you the booster 'wouldnt be much use'? it offers significant protection from serious illness and hospitalisation.

Yes, that's been the message all along, I've even read explanations as to why.

While i think this has been a massive overreaction, the impression i get from these restrictions being implemented is the potential that mass gatherings might have on increasing infections, and i agree with that. Sir Jason did mention that it wasnt just the being in the stadium that was the problem, its was everything else associated with travel and going to the pubs.

However, we cannot live in what might happen any longer and there should have been more trust in the tools we have and what data was available while the booster programme was accelerated.

But you can still go to the pub, indoors! 🤔

It doesn't matter how many folk get the booster as vaccination doesn't seem to affect government policy (even though we've been told many times a vaccine was the only way out of this).

I read an interesting perspective: can you imagine if it was the Tories in England that decided Hogmany in Scotland should be cancelled meanwhile they carry on with it down south?

And yes i was in a pub after my booster yesterday, but i expect you know what i was meaning as regarding match day!

To be fair, those who developed these vaccines always said that boosters would be required and covid mutations might evade said vaccines, just like Omicron being more transmissible. Never have thought that vaccines in itself were the way out of this, and i think its prudent to take extra care in certain situations, like wearing masks.

I do have a degree of sympathy for Governments as we are all still learning as each mutation comes along and it takes time. But doing nothing other than accelerating the booster programme to me is beyond belief, but effectively shutting us down in the face if the available data is unacceptable.

With your last bit, are you saying it would be a shock if the Tory government shut down something in Scotland and keep it going in England! Too political that one me thinks!
