I do think that it is the boss who has to set the standard and who is the person responsible when standards drop. Same in any walk of life.
I'm in full agreement. To my mind, there are too many problems at the Albion at the present moment, both on and off the field. In my opinion, the biggest problem is that I don't feel that all of the players are behind VI's style of play and I can fully understand why. This can lead to frustration resulting in bad decisions being made. As you say Yarm, it's ultimately the manager who sets the standards and at present we are below what is expected, both with regards to the quality of football and discipline.

It’s the individual at the top that sets the standard and if he’s a useless nonentity then that will permeate the entire club.

Yes, I do mean the chinaman. With no disrespect to VI, Chris Wilder would have been the ideal fit for WBA and the runt vetoed the appointment. Tw@t.

It worked for us as a small club in the championship last season with young and average players , the old Wimbledon crazy gang mentality .

This may not work as well at a bigger club such as Albion and some extremely well paid players .

Val's gone from a small club sticking it up the big boys to a big boys club who have a different mindset .

Coming on to the field and giving it large against Cardiff City doesn't work the same way at Albion as it did at Oakwell in my opinion .

    It's a culture thing
Interesting. He comes across as a dour hard ba5tard. As such, I would think ill discipline is something he would not tolerate. There is a contradiction there that I don’t fully understand.

I get what you’re saying Q and I’ve thought the same myself.

The other side to this is that behind the scenes he could possibly be an arrogant t w a t with a god complex and this is rubbing off on the brain dead like Kipre.

Kipre actually stitched us up like a Kipper yesterday.

Albion fans may not know this or maybe they do I don't know .

But none the less it's an interesting look in to Val's mentality .

He got the job at Oakwell because he was sacked by Austrian club LASK who he got in to the Europa League .

He got the sack because he broke Covid rules by having the players in for training at the hight of the pandemic and pre vax which at the time was forbidden .

LASK were also deducted league points and fined by the Austrian FA .

The man will do what ever it takes to win .

Apologies for not having read the whole thread but I fail to see how Val can be held responsible for Kipre's second yellow yesterday.

It just wasn't one, two players came together and it shouldn't even been a free kick never mind a second yellow and subsequent red.

The ref had an utter 'mare of a game. Look to the referees association etc. for the reasons behind this season's disciplinary record before looking to the manager.

Another in a seemingly never ending procession of pretentious, up their own @rse, arrogant co ckwombles.

I had the same opinion when I watched the ‘highlights’ on TV; the standard of refereeing is dire, I don’t understand why it is as bad as it is?

We’re a side under immense pressure, high expectations and fans who boo us when it’s 0-0 at half time despite that we have a really average side.

I think a lot of players are feeling the pressure which probably also gets passed down from Val who is renowned for not taking sh*t.

We went through the same under Bilic in the prem when we just started to lose grip, looking like relegation fodder.

Do we have a side with good mentality? Absolutely not. I’m not sure we can nail all that on Val.

Also that wasn’t a red in a billion years.

If you look at our sending's off this season Molumby against Forest and Johnston against Cardiff are the 2 you would say were definite reds the rest to me have an element of doubt or are totally wrong, the worry i have is we seem to be seen by referees as a dirty side if you look at a lot of our bookings they are for first offences in the game were as opposition players seem to have to commit more than 1 foul before they get booked so i'm not sure we can Blame our disciplinary record entirely on Val.
