Thought we created enough to win that overall. Didn’t have the intensity of a league game unsurprisingly, but not a bad watch.

Our first goal was a thing of beauty - Mitchell’s first time through ball to Vincent’s run. Delightful.

Even though the first goal was basically a tap in, the beauty of it was in the creation. It had 'Burchball' stamped right through it, with quick incisive passes that few teams at this level can defend against. The second was Eli Sam at his best, a good first touch and an instinctive finish that left their keeper with no chance.

Agree. We only seem to score quality goals.

Agreed, how do you rate what ended up being a tap in that most of us could have scored for our first, against a 30 yarder into the top corner? We had a lot of 30 yarders under Ardley, but not many under Burchnall.

Had to score 30 yarders under that boring ****, as he didn't know what to do in the final 1/3 of the pitch bar going sideways & backwards.

As IB said at the start of the season, I think it's always been a case of finding the right position for Eli Sam. Everybody (me included) assumed when he arrived, and looking at the size of him, that he could play as a target man, but appearances are deceptive. He's much happier playing off somebody else and having the opportunity to come deeper and run at defenders at times. I also suspect that if he gains the confidence of having a good run of games, his finishing will get sharper, though to be fair he's bagged a few goals already. He just hasn't played that many games compared to others. Nice to hear that IB recognises his potential though. We've seen too many players leave us in the past without being given a proper opportunity, only to play their best stuff somewhere else!
