    Parsons & Brooks updates

Connor Parsons has returned to Wycombe Wanderers and Tiernan Brooks has headed out on loan.

Parsons made five appearances for us after arriving from the Chairboys in November and returns to Adams Park with our best wishes for the future.

Brooks, meanwhile, has joined Coalville Town until the end of the February. The terms of the agreement mean he will continue to train regularly with us while gaining crucial match experience with the Southern League Premier Division Central side.

    Squad pretty trim now

Well, we do have cover in most positions, and players like Francis that are struggling to get game time.

But we are edging towards thin

    Parsons and Brooks

Sounds like an old-time department store.

We signed Parsons, but then got an upgrade in the form of Richardson. For me, there's no point bringing in a loanee if they only sit on the bench or don't even make the squad - Matty Wolfe from Barnsley being the classic example of a wasted loan last season.

Talking of loanees, Zak Brunt has had a few weeks to bed in with the team - now he really needs to deliver.

I agree re loan players. It's so nice to have a smaller squad for many reasons. Just wish we had a couple of youth team players pushing for the squad

Yeah Brunt needs to show that he adds something to the team. Does anyone know how long we have him for?

I wonder about the need for Brunt to be honest? I feel we are having to shoe horn him in. Against Bromley, we lost the running of Vincent for Brunt who from what I've seen (very little admittedly) is similar to Roberts. It would work if we dropped 3 at the back and basically played with Palmer and Vincent anchoring midfield with Brunt, Roberts and Rodrigues playing behind Wootton up top, but with the 3/5 at the back, it makes no sense

By my reckoning Southend have taken 16 points from a possible 18 since he left, albeit with a very kind run of fixtures.

It would be the ideal time for him to show us what he can do.

    Tend to agree.
Perhaps the recruitment guys have got themselves a bit muddled. Zac Brunt would be on the 'Radar' for sure....but that's as a pick-up in case he's ever released by Sheff Utd. While's he's with them, he's their prospect and there's not much point taking a project like that on loan in the middle of the season, when all acquisitions need to be about helping the team immediately.

It makes sense as insurance in case we lost a creative player in the EFL window, but that's shut now.
Vincent seemed to be at the heart of a great team spirit, and seems a really positive lad to have around. No issue with him having competition but I don't think he should be dropped as quickly as he was on Saturday.
