No idea but Mitchell was beaten far too easy on the back post and maybe there was a question of why he was marking him as it was pretty obvious if they didn’t shoot it was going there.

There has to be a more direct Plan B when opponents work out how to stop Plan A, otherwise we're just a one dimensional team. Another great goal by Cal Roberts today and we created and missed many other good chances, but we're not getting the scruffy goals like Grimsby did today.
To be fair although we should have scored 3 so could they, they missed a penalty, hit the angle of post and bar and missed a sitter when their penalty taker blasted over the bar when in the clear.
The giving of that ridiculous penalty seemed to effect the players and we went downhill from there even though they missed.

Sorry Laddo, but this did make me laugh.

Brunt does appear to be one of those “We wanted him in the summer, so let’s get him now even though we signed someone else for that role” moves - when what we probably needed was a younger version of JOB (the forgotten man of Meadow Lane).

As others have said, our forward line hasn’t been functioning for a few weeks. If we don’t address that, and quickly, we are going nowhere but down the table.

Time for the players and IB to sort it out, starting on Tuesday.

For me Burchnall needs replacing. I don't believe he's going to take us up. Not this season not next, not ever.
Paul Cook is available and we're now in the position of salvaging the season as top spot is gone. No way are we going to haul back 12 points on Stockport with Burch in charge.

    I assume you meant originality..

As you've changed the subject I'll take that as agreeance 👍

After that performance I'm certainly burning a blunt.

Would Paul Cook or anyone else for that matter go with the present ''regime'' at the club, as in you take your pick of the players that the management want to recruit? I always imagined that's one of the reasons that Ardley was sacked and Burchy was employed. it's not gonna be every manager/coach's cup of tea, is it?

We got what we deserved today, which was nothing. After a really good first 30 minutes where 3-0 wouldn't have flattered us, apart from a couple of minutes after they equalised Grimsby totally bossed the game. They dominated the midfield to the extent where it looked like they had an extra man. The only surprise was that it took them so long to score. I keep hoping that my view of the game is outdated, and that pretty football could succeed in getting us back to where I think we belong. Today, the pretty footballers were taught a lesson by the less technically gifted players who simply wanted it more. Burchnall has to shoulder much of the blame, because we offered pretty poor opposition for over an hour. After 30 minutes we had no shape or pattern of play, basically we were chasing shadows. Nothing that he did changed it at all, so my worry is that when the chips are down we're just not as good as some think we are.
