Because the penalty taker, after being confronted by some brain dead r-sole who delayed the kick by kicking the ball away, was
possible put off sufficiently to miss a penalty he might otherwise have scored. I would have thought that was blindingly obvious.
I ought to be buzzing tonight - won again despite playing Wycombe mark 2, in terrible conditions with the most inept referee I have seen all season, scoring a wonder goal and at times defending magnificently to keep them out. Saving a penalty and hearing that Donny have unbelievable beaten Sunderland - leaving us 6 points clear.
Instead I am sickened to think that we possibly only won because of the actions of one of our brigade of gormless pricks who are consistently tarnishing the name of our club. I don't go to away games because I expect my enjoyment to be blighted by these idiots. We've now got it at home. Spoiled it for me today.
When they were taking the kid out he didn't look as though he gave a toss. If there are repercussions (fine, points deduction, replay game behind closed doors etc..) I fully expect that he still won't give a toss
When my friends and I go to away matched we try to avoid situations where we bump into any of our brainless fans until wr get into the ground, now their causing problems here.
Great post Wrinkly and I agree with all of it. You'll probably not agree with me though when I say that I've got a bit of sympathy for that lad because he most likely was feeling what the rest of us were feeling regarding that clown dressed in black. My blood was boiling and I could understand why anyone would want to vent their frustration. I suspect that it was just a mad moment and one that he'll regret now.
^^^^ ditto ^^^^
Excellent post wrinkly and the sad thing the two lads given a lifetime ban and arrested by SYP WON'T Give a toss about a club fine, points deduction, replay etc.
Spoilt the enjoyment for us, that's the last four games tarnishing the club and supporters by a minority of bell - ends.!!

Hopefully the Juvenile Court magistrates give them the stiffest sentence.
10ft fences, electric fences? Simple answer to a design fault maybe, though not what I was suggesting. The current barriers at NYS and plenty of grounds (not all) are below waist height, especially in all seater stadiums where seats go all the way to ground level.
Put the seats higher, look at Cambridge, Charlton, Leyton Orient. Stands further away from pitch? Though to be fair looking at NYS there is a good sized track around the ground, again back to stewarding.
Although, at non league grounds when all there is advertising boards or a rail, that's not going to work. So does it need a punishment for entering field of play that actually discourages people from going on to the pitch?
In all my years of watching RUFC this is the first time I’ve seen a prat invading the pitch, kicking the ball off the penalty spot and aim a dig at the penalty taker. As an event it’s rare ( fortunately)
I’ve seen some drunken knobs run into the pitch from time to time but today’s idiot wasn’t drunk unless it was drunk on Cow & Gate infant formula
But why are we surprised or shocked about this when in society as a whole has come to accept boorish behaviour?
Groups of kids causing anti social behaviour are common in every town and community, we see rent-a-mob pulling down statues, glueing themselves to motorways or chaining themselves to trees all in the knowledge that society will apologise for them and they get a minor or no punishment.
But it’s football, the great bandwagon to jump on, the arena where folks can exhibit mock indignation, a place where a derogatory remark is deemed more serious than thumping another fan or wrecking pub toilets.
Football needs to get a grip on this but so does the world outside the stadium.
Wrinkly good post, though the fan will be banned from NYS he'll prob still end up going to away games, and be back at NYS when someone else buys him a ticket. Not sure how a points deduction would work as some fans might go to other teams games and run on the pitch when it was an important game.
