    Poor Starmer!

Whilst I am not a fan of Boris was it really bad to mention the failure of the CPS to prosecute Jimmy Saville? The MP who stuck up for Boris said Starmer already has apologised on behalf of the department and it was not a personal attack!

By default any company that has a failure the director/s of that company must take some responsibility and Starmer was the guy at the top!

Starmer has attacked Boris over party after party which has started to bore the general public so what did he expect! Starmer fails to communicate any strategy over Ukraine, Covid or Brexit but parties seem to be his obsession!

Don’t give it - if you can’t take it comes to mind!

    Starmer looked weak tonight.

If he had the courage of his convictions and of his handling of the Savile episode he should’ve stood his ground and argued his point.

An opportunity lost in which to make himself look like a strong leader.

From what I have read around the Starmer/Saville issue it seemed that Boris's accusations are more to do with deflection and tit-for-tat politics than based on any real misconduct/failing on Starmers behalf. If those in the CPS who were actually dealing with case thought there was insufficient evidence at that time there were clearly reasons behind that. Having a belief in something is not the same as having enough evidence to bring it to trial. A later review reported that a different tact taken by the police and CPS at that time may have led to a prosecution but that Starmer himself was almost certainly unaware of details. Starmer later made an apology on behalf of himself and the CPS which indicates he takes some responsibility as he was DDP at the time but Boris's insinuation that he was directly responsible and negligent are wide of the mark and seems deliberately scurrilous.

Where I do agree with others is that Starmer has not shown the strength needed in an Opposition leader. The top echelons of the Tory party broke their own rules and partied and they got picked up on that. Well done, but what is far more important now are the problems facing millions in this country and we do not seem to be hearing too much from Labour about their strategies to deal with the rising cost of living/ energy / housing/ education/ wages etc let alone the situation in Ukraine or regards Taiwan.

The Conservative Party is in disarray, they seem to have little true regard for the problems so many will face this coming year, their talk of "levelling up" appears just talk and Boris the Clown looks to be on his way out. Should be an ideal time for someone to offer the country a new way forward. Trouble is I for one can't think of anyone or any Party to do it.😞

I think the monster raving loony or whatever, would do a better job than this current party in charge. What a shambles they are and I doubt they’ll even win back the trust of the people up and down the country. Everywhere I hear is they’ll never vote tory again. Angela Rayner did have a point. It is absolutely sickening what they have done to take us all as fools. The arrogance of it all is that all tories think they can wave a wand and they’ll choose someone else within their ranks for a new PM. Rishi ssssunake 🐍 has no chance and is starting to run out of ideas and insisted with the tax hike. Tory party are finished and they deserve it. Whilst Starmer isn’t perfect, he’d do a better job than Boris.. but hey he just doesn’t come across well.. who fkin cares? At least he isn’t going to mislead the country.

In my opinion, the problem with the Jimmy Saville situation was that many individuals and institutions did know what he was up to and chose to do nothing about it. Why, I just don't know. I don't think that Starmer, personally, knew anything but I'm convinced that individuals at the BBC certainly did. Most people I knew thought that he was a 'creepy' individual but for some reason he got away with it.

All that’ll happen in the next election is that the Tories will win but with a massively reduced majority Regis.

Until Labour can take Scotland again they have zero chance of winning the General Election and that ain’t happening.

The arrogance of the fools running Number 10 leaves even me dumbfounded but I just cannot vote for a party who are simply putting all their “Hard Left” in a cupboard.......they’ll all come tumbling out again at some point.

Pity Alistair Darling is too old, great bloke, easy to like and would’ve made a very good PM in my opinion.

Totally agree Regis. The Tory Party really are for the rich and out of touch. The arrogance of Boris stinks but there's no credible opposition. Sunak is a little toad and all for giving bankers incentives and his latest contribution to the energy crisis to those who on the poverty line and will freeze was shocking. Don't like Boris but if he stays I hope he shows loyalty to colleagues who backed him and send people like Sunak to collect his P45 for toying for his job. Horrible little specimen!
