It creates an imbalance if some people don't worry about what they post because they're matey with the mods and know they can change the historical record at any time. Others don't operate like that so you effectively create a two tier board.
I think its an important question - because it means how can we know if things haven't been changed over time when it's embarrassing to someone who is matey with a mod? I'm questioning whether it goes on a lot more than I realise and whether it's affected any discussions I've been involved in. Do you see my concern?
The restrictions have been introduced for a reason. There needs to at least be guarantees of transparency.
