Didn’t see game either, but to quote Luggy from the McClean Years videos, “There is no substitute for positive play.” IMO better to have tried and died, rather than not all.

Did anybody catch Watt and their exec Allan Burrows having a proper ding dong after his lap around the park when Watt went to the tunnel?

All I was trying to point out in the post you replied to was that increasingly coaches are using performance stats to base decisions on. Surely you understand that it's been used increasingly at United under TC?

It was someone else who mentioned Pep was to blame for a lot of this and tbf some of it started in the Netherlands. The poster who referred to Pep was spot on when he said it's fine when you've got the likes of Iniesta, Javi and de Bruyne but it can be taken too far when used with players at our level. Reason being that a poor stat at our level may see you left out of the side in favour of someone who (for example &#128526 covers a lot of ground in 90 minutes.

Performance Indicator Stats (PISS) don't cover a player's heart desire, bravery and attitude in the same way as say the number of touches he makes in an opponents half.

I'm not saying analysis is a bad thing but shouldn't be used at the exclusion of other less measurable attributes which I'm guessing at times Tam has.

Anyway we're 4th and heading for Europe so who gives a FF 🧡
You can't possibly know what TC is basing his decisions on. There is nothing selective about my memory, I'm well aware of the run of results you've posted. What I'm saying is the performances, with regard to creating chances and positive play, hasn't changed since the season start.

If you want a great example of this then look no further than last night. How many shots on target did we have?

Much, much better last night. Great effort from all the players.

Niskannen in particular was excellent , powerful runs, getting stuck in all over the pitch, a bit of work to do on his final pass perhaps but his work for the goal was superb. Butcher and Edwards solid and calm, Liam Smith with his runs down the right. Noticed a big difference in Harkes last night too, also getting stuck in all over the park, much better. Great to see Tony getting his goal. He enjoyed it and again played very well. And a wonder goal fae Levitt. Superb.

Finally a special mention for young Graham. What an excellent start in the United first team. Calm, assured and some great play.

It’s one game, but a massive improvement. Well done to abady.

PS also good to see McDonald get a start and contribute well in midfield. Experienced head in there will help.

Football clubs have to survive as well. What pays the bills Tannadice for example? The price of absolutely everything in the world has gone up lately. No one, no matter how hard done we sometimes feel by, can expect the cost of getting into the game not to rise.

Good game last night. McDonald looked slow at times totally understandable but his vision rubbed off on Levitt and Harkes. Niskanen running at defences was great - he also looks at home wing back as does Smith. But Graham, my god what composure. Butch really should stay at CB imo until mulgrew back. Watt is exactly what we needed and Mcnulty is getting better. All in all some forward passing helps lol Cup day saturday so a simple 20 min drive for me - cant wait

I think having McDonald holding as he was allowed Harkes and Levitt a little more freedom in the game. I though McDonald was quite cumbersome looking but he didn't lose the ball much and I think he did amazingly well considering. Only going to get better too...

Everybody said it looked like the strongest Premiership in years and on paper it certainly is but no one could have predicted the demise of ST Johnstone from double cup winners to propping up the league, the daft Hibs decision to sack Ross just before a cup final and appoint a rookie in his place, the continuing saga that is The Sheep under Glass and more recently Motherwell's form has fallen off a cliff.

Even after posting the above i still agree with you though J,i cannie believe we are 4th either
