Can anyone remind me, I know he came to us as a centre back but has he ever played there for us and how did he do? It’s an option when he’s fit, but is it a reasonable one?

Creative Thinking has been defined as "the capacity to generate many different kinds of ideas, manipulate ideas in unusual ways and make unconventional connections in order to outline novel possibilities that have the potential to elegantly meet a given purpose."
Whilst I admire a bit of creative thinking, how about trying a little word game?
Rearrange these words into a well known sentence:-
Straws, You, Clutching, Are, At.
Ohhhh can I play please
Down are going you 😀
I think he was put there initially and that led him to being on the release list before being reinvented as an attacking mid fielder. That worked fine when we were playing a high pressing game with 20 + shots on target as he is always thereabouts to pounce on rebounds. Sadly, he does not have the skills to be a mid fielder per se as he is slow and cannot trap the ball & he shoud be no where near our penalty box. I think he is Conference level at best.
15 May 2019:
"Carlisle United have confirmed the signing of Gateshead defender Jon Mellish on a one-year-contract.
The left-footed centre-back, who can play a number of roles, made his first-team debut in the final game of the 2016/17 National League season and was subsequently offered a full contract with the club.
The young defender made a total of 58 appearances for his hometown team, scoring twice, and made his debut for the England C squad in a 1-0 victory over the Estonia under-23 side in October 2018.
His superb performances in the Heed’s back line last season saw him awarded Young Player of the Year at our annual National Game Awards at Stamford Bridge yesterday."

Straws at clutching possibly, but I was wondering if he would be a reasonable alternative to Simeu.
