Would have been as well sticking with mcpake if true imo. A few decent managers available just now.

Agree with you. Not convinced that McGhee is going to happen. It seems strange that John Nelms would make an interim appointment of someone who has not been working at what we assume is the required level for a few years.
Sometimes old heads are useful, just think of the loads of constructive helpful pieces of advice the old grumpies on here provide for free week in week out. But in this case I don’t understand why John Nelms has taken this route. That's why I doubt the story.

I find it very strange that James McPake is photographed with the new Dundee FC manager Mark McGhee.
In a normal football club the outgoing manager would be nowhere this photograph with Chief Executive John Nelms welcoming Mark McGhee to Dundee Football Club.
    This begs the questions.
What has happened to John Nelms.
He was not in the Directors Box at the Ross County game a week past Saturday.
Has he been recalled by Tim Keyes.

Should have had more faith in the Forums!! Still struggling to see how this is going to work but you would think that the McPake out brigade would be hoping that this is going to be better than keeping him. Massive amount of negativity not just about the appointment but the role of John Nelms and even some flak for Gordon Strachan.

My view, nothing for it but to support the team.

We were down imho.....the club is shambolic with Nelms and the fans barely on the same planet never mind wavelength but the only place to be is in the top league.....if McGhee and rusk do that ....job done.....other fights can wait in the meantime

I think our chances of escaping have marginally improved.

And that's even taking into account lifelong fans who never go who are walking away in their half a dozen.

This appointment might be genius,he might keep us up,and given we are only 12 points from 4th, he has a chance to take us up the league.

    There is obviously a but......

He has been in discussions with the club while mcpake was manager. This is wrong from both sides.

If nelms wanted to sack mcpake, then that is his decision to make, but for me, sack the manager then look for a new one. Anyone who wants the job will wait. Essentially, what I get from this is if McGhee said no,mcpake would still be manager, and would remain till nelms got someone to say yes.

Mcghee then, was offered a vacancy that was not vacant,in effect, " we will sack him if you take the job"

Mcghee then becomes responsible for mcpake being sacked and not nelms.

My other problem is we should be looking for the best available manager. I would guess if you asked a million football fans in Scotland to name who the best is, none would say mcghee.wouldnt be in any of their top ten even, and probably not in the top 100
