    There is obviously a but......

He has been in discussions with the club while mcpake was manager. This is wrong from both sides.

If nelms wanted to sack mcpake, then that is his decision to make, but for me, sack the manager then look for a new one. Anyone who wants the job will wait. Essentially, what I get from this is if McGhee said no,mcpake would still be manager, and would remain till nelms got someone to say yes.

Mcghee then, was offered a vacancy that was not vacant,in effect, " we will sack him if you take the job"

Mcghee then becomes responsible for mcpake being sacked and not nelms.

My other problem is we should be looking for the best available manager. I would guess if you asked a million football fans in Scotland to name who the best is, none would say mcghee.wouldnt be in any of their top ten even, and probably not in the top 100
McPake was on a rolling contract, his contract has been cancelled (and presumably paid in full) he hasn't really been sacked because technically you haven't sacked a contractor if you fulfil their contract.

I agree it's morally wrong to recruit for a position that isn't actually vacant except of course when the incumbent has served notice of departure. But let's be honest headhunting happens all the time in every profession so let's not pretend to be surprised. Also, do we know James McPake didn't give notice? We know he was out of his depth so maybe he said he was done and asked Nelms to replace him? We'll never know of course.

Whilst I'm not particularly happy with McGhee's appointment, and we should definitely always be looking for the best available manager, it's absolutely not Mark McGhee's fault that James McPake was relieved of his duties.

Not so sure about that. I know headhunting like this happens, but it's still wrong. I am not sure I could ever trust someone that accepted a job that was not a genuine vacancy.

I have been in a similar position myself, and refused to discuss the position while someone else had the job.( I turned the job down after that person was sacked because I couldn't trust the employer)

But back to mcghee. I get he wants a job,and I get football seems to see itself as different, but I expect my club to be above reproach. I know that's naive of me,but that's how I feel.

Mcghee has said yes to a job in the full knowledge that if he says yes, someone else will be punted. He might not be 100% to blame, but blame is still attached

Heard McPake was already told his time was up, yet agreed to stay on for a couple more games, not sure if true, but if it is, hats of to him
