Remember that horror run under Buckley where we went 0-1-12 and the draw was a 0-0 v the Dingles and Hunt missed a penalty?
We’re now very much of the same ilk in terms of our squad yet we don’t have Andy Hunt and Bob Taylor equivalents in our squad.
Enjoy your evening.
Neither do we have a Sneekes
Late 80's....early 90's was a horrid time football wise. My weekends were abysmal cause there was no football to look forward to for years....at least as poor this last while....
No ambition this is what you get. Nothing is going to change until someone with some vision owns the club.
That about sums up our club! Bruce was a brave man coming to us and even if Klopp arrived there would be no difference. Most of the players need shipping out. Bruce should play THG, OShea , Tolluch and Cleary in my view as it's a no brainer. Playing Livermore, Reach, Molumby, Mowatt and Carrol will only bring negative comments. Don't get me wrong Carrol puts in the effort but he's clearly finished at this level.
The continuation of giving contracts to players like Livermore is absolutely pathetic. What kind of deluded moron runs
this s hit show called West Bromwich Albion Football Club?
PS - FOL!
I think all this was inevitable really for football in general. It's difficult to make business decision based around a sports model.
Football is not for profit but if it is the motivation for the investment it will flounder. In business if someone isn't pulling there weight they can be warned, reprimanded and after appropriate warnings...sacked.
The biggest mistake in the new era was allowing too much money in to only a few clubs. Huge inequality brought in. That coupled with agents acting for players has driven a steak into football's heart.
Players should be allowed to be let go if not fulfilling contracts. It is all rewards rewards rewards with no penalty for falling short. Contracts are ridiculous today.
To the working man who sees this and still goes to games...it has proven to be a major disappointment in this new era.
A lot of similarities, back then we got player's and manager's from Grimsby, now it's Barnsley.
No disrespect at all to those two club's but it shows the height of our ambition.
We have to accept that the club is probably at its lowest ebb since the day that we dropped into the third tier of Englsh football. There are many reasons for this but success in any institution stems from the top. We have an owner who has no interest in us as a football club and even less knowledg of the game itself, if that's possible.
A prime example of this was the vetoing of Chris Wilder as Head Coach. In my opinion a huge mistake which has come back to haunt us. The reason for this was the fact that he didn't want Wilder to challenge his authority. This about sums up the character of the man, small in stature and more importantly, character. Ismael was never the right fit for us which has subsequently been proved to be correct.
Lai obviously wants to sell the club and recoup as much of his investment as possible. This is difficult as he overpaid for us in the first place and, combined with our demise on the field of play, has become even more difficult. How he couldn't foresee this, and act accordingly, is beyond me. I think that he will asset strip us as much as possible before selling.
Promotion this season is now a distant dream and unless there is a complete upturn in performances we will remain a Championship club, certainly as far as next season is concerned. Hope that I am incorrect in my assumptions!
Says it all !!!!!!
