    answer

The word Palestine derives from Philistia, the name given by Greek writers to the land of the Philistines, who in the 12th century bce occupied a small pocket of land on the southern coast, between modern Tel Aviv–Yafo and Gaza.

When these sea traders (Philistines ) entered the country of Judah, the Jews called them the 'invaders= The verb in Hebrew (invade) is formed by the letters P L S, ( פ ל ש) Hebrew is written from right to left. These people where called the invaders ( 'Plistim'), they did not know where they came from, but simply 'invaders' . We know today, from the area of the Aegean sea. We know this from pottery etc found in their settlements. In Israeli newspapers today we can read, רוסיה פולשת which means ' Russia invades', The same verb invades = P L S
    Palestine is written in Hebrew , פלשתינה again the same P L S (פ ל ש)

If we take google as a fact, ' the word Palestine derives from Philistia, the name given by Greek writers to the land of the Philistines,

How can it be THEIR land if they were invaders ??
In the 80's I was offered a really top job in Johannesburg, my wife at the time refused to go because of apartheid, I never thought I would live long enough to witness it again Balan...

BT You say yes Israel is given billions in Financial Aid , that's not good right . But if it did not get ,just maybe . there would be no 'Iron Dome'. So how would Britain then defend the Falkland Islands??

    https://www.thejc.com/news/world/bri...lands-1.450425

UK to deploy Israel's Iron Dome.

The technology behind Israel’s pioneering missile shield is being rolled out across the globe to power air defences, power grids and “smart cities”.

The Iron Dome system was originally deployed on the border with Gaza to repel a barrage of rocket attacks.

But now the company that invented it says the cutting-edge technology’s “brain” has much wider applications. It can link several objects together and crunch large amounts of data to manage efficiently, allowing the system in Israel to coordinate radar and missile launchers to track enemy rockets and blast them out of the sky.

A version of this command and control computer has been bought by the UK to help protect the Falkland Islands, it was confirmed last month.

The Iron Dome’s capabilities were first revealed to the world in 2012, when it shot down hundreds of rockets fired at Israel from the Gaza Strip over an eight-day conflict.

The system aims to shoot down rockets at their highest point and to minimise debris — and knows to hold fire if a rocket is set to hit an unpopulated area.

Apologies for the East Bank reference Balan. Until Israel’s victory in the June 1967 Six-Day War, parts of Jerusalem were artificially separated along the armistice lines that ended the 1948 War of Independence. Parts of North, South, and East Jerusalem lay under control of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

By June 28, 1967, the barriers that had divided Jerusalem were dismantled. The city—whose boundaries have since been expanded beyond the municipal borders demarcated by Jordan—was incorporated into Israel proper. The annexation was opposed by the U.S. State Department and condemned by the UN Security Council. I can't help but refer to the area as the East Bank because Israel have effectively nicked East Jerusalem from Jordan and Palestine.

....and if Jorden, along with other Armies had not attacked Israel, we would not have taken the West Bank ,including East Jerusalem. But Jorden attacked us ,we told them not to attack us, not to enter into the war of 67, maybe they thought the might of all the Arab armies would destroy Israel and so they would divide it all up between them? Do you think that by pushing them back over the river Jorden, we would then withdraw back to all our original positions? ( so that they can come back at some date and attack us again? )

An eastern front was also opened on June 5 when Jordanian forces began shelling West Jerusalem—disregarding Israel’s warning to King Hussein to keep Jordan out of the fight—only to face a crushing Israeli counterattack. On June 7 Israeli forces drove Jordanian forces out of East Jerusalem and most of the West Bank.

The UN Security Council called for a cease-fire on June 7 that was immediately accepted by Israel and Jordan. Egypt accepted the following day. Syria held out, however, and continued to shell villages in northern Israel.

Syria fired on Israel for 19 years!! So did Jorden. (1948-1967) One woman on our Kibbutz spent her all childhood sleeping in air raid shelters ,at that time she lived in Kibbutz 'Gesher', which is opposite the river Jorden, it was common then because of shelling mainly from Fatah , ( Palestinians of course ) But Jorden allowed them to shell Israel.

The Battle of Kibbutz Gesher - history https://www.jpost.com/israel-news/th...-gesher-589017

(you said ).....''because Israel have effectively nicked East Jerusalem from Jordan and Palestine. I think we just repeatedly kept telling them to ''stop that shelling of our villages or we will '' clobber you ''

Talking about fighting Balan, why are the Israelis not condemning the Russian invasion of the Ukraine?

Perhaps because it's a lot easier to beat up unarmed Palestinian civilians in East Jerusalem than it is to take the Russians on in Syria eh Balan?

  7. #297
    Thought so...

Al-Assad added: “Syria stands with the Russian Federation based on its conviction that its position is correct and because confronting NATO expansionism is a right for Russia.”

Who'd want to take on a properly equipped army eh Balan?

It must be an awful lot easier beating up Palestinian kids who only have catapults and stones to fight back with.

BT : .....'' why are the Israelis not condemning the Russian invasion of the Ukraine?''
Because you must know that in Syria ,the Iranians are trying to build (whatever?) missile bases weapon stores. Then you know we fly over Syria and destroy them ,and also any Hezbollah basis. The Syrians are using Soviet radar systems,(could they in the future be maned by Russians ,that would make our task to destroy much more difficult. Then as we are in confrontation with ,the Syrians , Hezbollah, and Iranians, (the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, also known as the Sepaah) best not to be in any sort of confrontation with Vlad ,right.

Breaking neutrality, Israel condemns Russia's attack on Ukraine
Foreign Minister Yair Lapid in a statement calls Russia's mass invasion of its neighbour a 'serious violation' after a day earlier stopping short of condemning the country; Herzog says he 'fears a humanitarian tragedy' as missiles rain down on Ukrainian cities

Israel supports the Ukrainian people in their time of need, Prime Minister Naftali Bennett told the country's President Volodymyr Zelensky when the two spoke on Friday.

Confirming the Ukrainian ambassador to Israel's comments to The Jerusalem Post that Ukraine is "looking for an Israeli diplomatic effort as an intermediary," Zelensky asked Bennett to facilitate ceasefire talks with Russia in Jerusalem, KAN News reported.

Invasion of Ukraine makes it obvious: IDF will fight its own battles
It is something that Israel has said over and over again, Israel is not a party to any deal signed with Tehran. And if needed, Israel’s military will act against Iran.

BT: ''Who'd want to take on a properly equipped army eh Balan?

Maybe who would want to take on Israel's Air Force?

Israeli Air Force - 58.0. French Air Force - 56.3. British Royal Air Force - 55.3. South Korean Air Force - 53.4.

The Israeli Air Force, “Kheil HaAvir” in Hebrew (meaning "Air Corps"), is universally recognized to be among the world’s most powerful aerial fighting forces. Since the establishment of the State of Israel, the Air Force has played a major role in securing the country’s numerous military victories. Today, the IAF remains a central pillar of the Israel Defence Forces, deterring terrorist threats and ensuring Israel’s strategic advantage in wartime.

Brilliant for bombing innocent civilians to smithereens in Gaza eh Balan?

It's not like any of Israels neighbours have any decent war planes, us and the Yanks see to that.
