Interesting if worrying interview with a Putin expert who also worked for Trump.

Good analysis, can't really disagree with any of that.

With the multiple rocket launchers pointed at civilian areas and the huge column of tanks heading for Kiev, it looks like his plan B is to turn Ukraine into Grozny 2.0.

If that doesn't get him what he wants I don't even want to imagine what plan C is.

to say Fiona Hill 'worked for Trump' is a bit of a weird one, she also 'worked for' Bush and Obama in that sense. She also excoriated Trump quite entertainingly during the first Trump impeachment.

the Politico piece seems to reflect all the serious thinking I'm reading: P defo got a legacy agenda, P defo got Uncle Joe (#1) issues, P highly likely unstable and in charge of megalomania and nukes. What could go wrong?

I watched the last of 3 programmes about Hitler on BBC last night. It was weird how it resonated with today's Russian leader. I wonder if they have a von Stauffenberg in their ranks?
Ironic that social media, the channel for so much troublesome disinformation in the past, is now serving as a corrective for state-run media and offering the only positive ray of light at the moment.

... FWIW, I hope we don't stop RT from operating in GB. It gives us sight of what a failed system can and will do however abhorrent we may think it to be. By way of a 'heads up' and to no-ones surprise, RT showing documentaries of past atrocities (appalling concentration camp footage) carried out in WW2 by German/Ukrainian forces against people of the Donbas region; also German/Latvian forces (Waffen SS) against Russians in Latvia. We should regard this as premeditated 'warming up' of hatred for the Russian population by Latvians (and Estonia, Lithuania; also probably Finland) so that invasion of Baltic states will look like another rescue mission.

... by the way, (unless someone tells me otherwise) isn't about time the Russian mafia got ready to remove Putin. Over centuries the favoured Russian method of removal is poison, rather than shooting ... from Rasputin onwards ...

Saw a interview last night saying the Ruskis have built a crematorium to cremate their dead, so no bodies taken home & save face. Also a text message from a Soldier saying that they were fighting the Ukranians & civilians. They were told we would be met with flowers. He was killed shortly afterwards.

After saying I don’t recommend authors for geo-politics…
    Dug this one out yesterday.
He pretty much nailed the current view from the Kremlin.

(Not a popular person tbh because he is a right wing fascist but his analysis is spot on)
