......or those many players who worked their collective and individual b o l l o c k s off over a 20 year period think of this s h I t show?
It took Megson to clear out all the shirkers, wasters and hangers on and to bring in characters and players who could be trusted to try regardless of talent!
From that point onwards and when Peace and Ashworth came in it was the same remit, the same ethos......CHARACTER.
Due diligence done on what a players mentality was like, the likes of Scharner, G Mac, Olsson, Gera and so many others.....very few costing much money but all true pro’s who gave everything for our club.
What was the point?
All that sweat, grit and toil now lies like rubble......the club is an empty husk, a shell, a f u c k I n g ruin due to a completely inept owner and a series of terrible managers save for Bilic.
My honest belief is that we cannot begin to mend until we get the spirt of the 2000-2015 back at the club and this involves a “brains trust”, a boot room comprising of three or four of our players of that era.
I really feel for our ex players of that era, yes they got well paid but you could tell it meant a lot to them that we retained Premier status and regularly got good results against top teams.
This present bunch are a disgrace to their memory and to our great shirt.
Players like Neil Parsley and Graham Harbey were rubbish but at least they were trying.

Agree! Really enjoyed watching that podcast (thanks again for posting btw) and, aside from the interesting insights about what it was like at the club from the inside over that period, the differences between then and now and the attitude of that core group of players then and of most of those we have now is staggeringly clear.
I agree, but if you discount the effort, they were actually better players.
No argument with that, just saying that attitude itself too is important. However poorly this lot are playing we do know that many of them have played far better and are capable of more. I appreciate that the personality, tactics and team selection of the manager all have their impact but that should not mean that individual players don't put efforts in to chase down every ball and demonstrate a bit of fight. If they are that disillusioned then leave!
