So are you advocating that the west starts World War Three over a non NATO country, just to prove to Putin that we have a pair?

What a complete waste of space! Biggest risk to the world since 1940 and they sit on their hands spouting hollow rhetoric. The whole notion that one single country due to its power can veto any resolution is a nonsense, majority vote should carry with country one vote. A massive UN peace keeping force should walk into Ukraine now and kick Russian forces out and secure peace, NATO can’t do this as WW3 would follow, seems so obvious and attainable just need the UN council to grow a pair!

It’ll be interesting to see what happens if Putin makes any sort of move into Hungary, Poland or anywhere else under NATO control.
Anthony Blinken the US Foreign Secretary said today that any such move would spark a severe response.
The thought of “Sleepy” Joe Biden sticking his tongue out and going “ner, ner, na, ner, ner” must strike fear into Putin.
He won't attack a Nato country anymore than we will put boots on the ground in Ukraine.
I can understand why he is doing this although I don't condone it.
He wants a buffer state between Russia and his enemy controlled neighbouring countries.
My dad fought in Korea against the communists, the French and Yanks fought against the Vietnamese, just because they didn't want communism to take hold there.
These were countries on the other side of the world, is what Putin is doing on his doorstep any worse than what the west have done down the decades? America plays at being the world policeman and uses the excuse to invade any country whose politics they don't agree with. No difference in my mind between America and Russia, it just depends on which side you belong to.
Personally I think that the West should stand up to Putin now before Ukraine and it's people suffer any further. I do understand that as a non NATO nation this might preclude NATO forces actively going in but I would have hoped that they could go in under the mantle of a U.N. Peacekeeping operation as happened in Bosnia for example. I just don't understand the concept of any one country being allowed the power of a veto against this.
A deterrent, nuclear or otherwise, only works if the other side sees that you are ultimately prepared to use it. Putin's brinkmanship and Western reluctance to more forcibly respond to this has enabled his actions whether that be in Georgia, Crimea or Ukraine. I doubt the Kremlin really wants to engage in either a nuclear war or a conventional NATO v Russia war anymore than the West but I do understand why the West is wary given Putin's character. That said, I firmly believe that any move by Russia into a NATO country will trigger Article 5 and Biden has said as much. This is the line drawn. Putin does this and there will be a NATO v Russia war and the danger of even further escalation. Worrying times.
I tend to agree with that......there are no clear cut good/bad guy politics anymore.....you can see that in how the deceptions were poured out during the pandemic and before it....you need to get your own source of information.
The policeman on the beat has been found out to be as corrupt as the people he was suppose to be protecting......NATO and Clinton fecked Russia off after Germany reunification.......and then Obama weakened over Syria and Crimea......when Russia invaded Cheyenne not once but twice....the west figured it was a war against Muslim extremest..... when he went into Georgia it was regarded as a Russian matter in its own sphere........so it figures when Afghanistan was left high and dry by the pull back....well....you have just lined up a load of green light for Putin........but he has made a mistake by attacking Slavic people.
Many Russians will not be happy with this war and I perceive demonstrations growing larger as this drags on........initial intell reports suggest that the Russian command actually believed they would only need three days to over throw the Ukraine Government.
How can you make any sort of comparison between what Putin is doing to what the West has done in the past? This has nothing whatsoever to do with Russia’s security, it is all about Putin, clearly he is a psychopath, a murdering lump of scum on a par with Adolf Hitler. It is about building himself an empire in which he believes that he can be the all conquering hero. I don’t think that Britain or the USA has ever produced such vile individuals as Hitler and Putin. If he is ever captured alive, don’t bother with putting him on trial, hang the ba$tard upside down from a lamppost and set him on fire alive. I hope that there is a Hell, just for him.
No comparison with us and America invading Iraq without declaration of war, and against the wishes of the UN, the EU, and most people in this country?
But unlike Putin we only went in to liberate the people because we didn't agree with how they were being led. We only killed terrorists and the ordinary people hardly knew we were there.
You have said yourself Ketts that Blair should be done for war crimes and I entirely agree.
If we do thing's like that because WE think it's right, then Putin gets the green light to do what HE thinks is right.
Pot, kettle black and all that.
