Just read the BBC report on the game, and though their graphic of our formation is usually very funny, this one is beyond hilarious!

For anyone who wasn't at the game, we apparently lined up in this 4-4-2 formation:

    Jaros
    Rawlinson - Francis - Roberts - Chicksen
    Kelly-Evans - Vincent - Lacey - Rodrigues
    Brunt -Wootton

Yeah I get the theory, but the reality was exactly the same as last week where we got pushed back anyway and ended up trying to defend a one-goal lead with a team that would've made more sense if we were chasing an equaliser.

Maybe in isolation it's not so bad, but it comes a week after we blew a 1-0 lead in similar circumstances having made similarly baffling subs. Notts have now dropped enough points from winning positions in away games against the rest of the top seven alone to be one point behind Stockport. Without even mentioning that we've done the same thing at home to Bromley and Grimsby, and did our best to bottle a two goal lead against Stockport at ML.

We're a decent team, but our management of games when ahead late on is absolutely appalling.

And there was no other midfielder on the bench. We were down to the bare bones - the squad is thin
Vincent got hooked because he gives the ball away. What Burch just doesn't seem to see is the ground he covers, interceptions made and players marked. As soon as he went off we were penned in to our own third. Vincent is the only midfielder in tonight's squad with 'legs'. Brunt was spent on 60 mins, Roberts too. Wrong substitution.
We gave it a go tonight, less keep ball and less short balls, keeper is absolutely rooted to his spot, refuses to help his defence out, Slocombe needed replacing but you'd hope for an upgrade. No coincidence that our best form of the season was when Patterson was in goal.
If we'd beaten Yeovil an away point at Solihull would have been decent but it's another game down, second and third spot retreating over the horizon, games in hand used up with Bromley right behind us.
Thir**** games to go and it doesn't feel remotely like a promotion challenge is brewing.

    I feel your emotion/passion.

Your right about management of games. Which is strange as we’re a possession based team and the best way of preventing the opposition from scoring is starve them of ball.

The Nemane sub was a strange one, and even though he did ok nearly all his best work was in defence. And even though it was good to see Taylor involved again, when Kelly-Evans went off I was surprised Richardson didn't replace him.

The other thing that struck me tonight was how open and free flowing that game was at 3-2 to Notts with about ten minutes left.

Every other team in this league tries to kill it. Physio on for some cramp, walking to take throw ins and all of that. Even though we were under pressure we seemed to have no intention of slowing the game down at all.

From the snippets I’ve heard, Richardson wasn’t fit enough to be on the bench. But, Notts didn’t want to give the impression they were struggling for numbers. So named him on the bench. I think Richardson had an issue in the warm up, hamstring?

That would explain it. The fact we had Slocombe on the bench suggests we were down to the bare bones.

Yes. At the end of Halifax home fixture our fans were getting understandably irate due to the antics of the Halifax players. Some bloke said to me ‘we’d do exactly the same’. I replied ‘no we wouldn’t, we should, but we wouldn’t’

We certainly did all that stuff away at Halifax and ended up 3-2 down from 0-2 up against 10!
