One of the things I hate most about the modern game is the term 'game management'. It's real name is 'defrauding the paying customer', because it mainly consists of wasting time, feigning injury and conning the ref. I'm not naive enough to think that we should make a moral stance, so if other teams get away with it why shouldn't we? It's just that we pay our money to watch a football match, not a grown man rolling around in fake agony if their team is ahead, or someone deliberately taking a free kick from the wrong place in the full knowledge that the ref will make him take it again, or a goalkeeper deciding he needs a drink before a goal kick, thereby wasting several seconds.
Regarding my gripe, the Solihull number 10 Osborne offered a perfect example last night. He rolled around in agony if a Notts player so much as breathed on him, and constantly berated the ref for any decision that went against them. For some reason, the ref allowed him to get away with it. If the dissent law was properly applied, he would have been sent off before half time.
As per the Chesterfield game...was that really a penalty..!?
Good view of it here Pedro. A good watch too.

Credit where credit is due I thought that performance was a good effort by Notts. Due to the enforced absences I was worried when I saw the line-up of the team and, even more so, after listening for the first 10 minutes, when it seemed that a comprehensive defeat could be on the cards. Hopefully this spirit will get us some points over the next few tough league games and, with the favourable run-in (at least on paper), put us in a position to secure a play off place.
Well that neutral sure seemed to be very impressed by both sides in a thoroughly entertaining 3-3 draw.
With the managers involved the good football on display is no surprise but the 3 goals apiece sure was. Great to see RR turning on the magic again.
Great post. In total agreement with you. Apart from following Notts, this kind of issue has turned me off watching football.
'Game management' is what the football authorities should be doing to protect the game, their game, for the paying customer. Other sports step in. I'm dreading this year's World Cup....99% of physios coming on will be for teams holding leads...
I think it's time football was played to a stop clock...only actual play is counted, clock stopped for all dead balls and out of play.
