Lol. It was but some of the older members of the fanbase couldn't compute this.

Well why is he called head coach not manager.

Tuchel is head coach we know he don’t buy the players at Chelsea yet Pep/Klopp are managers they have the final say.

This is how the model works in Europe his job is to coach the players he has and make match day decisions but if he is given a turd player then you can’t do much about it other than try make him better.

The recruitment team are responsible for the signings but fans won’t see it that way as some still don’t understand how our model works.

Is it really as cut and dried as that? Do you think Burchnall has absolutely no say at all in the players we sign, and he just has to work with what he's given? I like to think it's more of a team effort, but if Burchnall actually does have no say at all then I think "our model" is doomed to failure.

Legs77 is right, the recruitment team 'is responsible' for signings - by that it means the final say, and the buck stops with them.
This is what you can take from the club's public explanations of the role of Montague and that team.

But didn't they, and IB, also say that the Head Coach is a central part of this process? That's how I remember it.

Not rocket science, IB and his team are responsible for (final say) in coaching, training schedule, tactics, team selection, player development etc. Another team is responsible for (final say) recruitment. It's how a lot of pro level sports work around the world I think.

i think he would say what position needs strengthening and what type , style of player he would like in that position , ie centre midfield i want a bruiser that can run box to box and is a leader of men etc etc ....

There was quite a long article about recruitment in the summer.
IB gets plenty of say. It’s a team effort from scouts, statistics and coaching staff.

It would be great if that article could be posted on here for all to read. Then the levels of misinformation posted can hopefully be reduced.

That's the way I've always thought it works.

Klopp doesn’t get the final say. He wanted to give Wijnaldum a longer contract than was offered, but the clubs ‘model’ is that players of a certain don’t get longer term contracts. Klopp was seething.

IB has said himself before that he is involved in the recruitment process. Whether that’s highlighting players he likes or discussing players that have been spotted. Jaros was recommended to him by a mate at Liverpool. He chose to take his mates word that Jaros has ability.
