We might have a better all round striker sitting on the bench though, one with a goals per minute record that is at a different level

Lacey has been the biggest surprise for me this season and not in a positive way. Too many off games from a player I've always rated prior to this season.

Agree Rawlinson and Rodrigues were about best performers yesterday IMO.

Agree with the dwarf somewhat about Rùben dropping too deep to get the ball, you shouldn't need to do that with After and Palmer behind you. But this has been seen through the years with other talented ball players at Notts who often go searching for the ball in our own half.

Also agree with driller he's one of our best players and was all action yesterday with lots of effort which wasn't matched by the rest, can do things nobody else can, and is built to play in many positions. Yes I'm biased because yes I'm a fan great to see him back in great form recently.

Happens too often.
I couldn't believe he missed that one. To me it looked like Lacey's header was going in. Can anyone confirm?

Richardson. 7. Great player, just looks like the confidence is slowly being drained out of him being at Notts. You can see the speed etc…and that’s why I gave him a 7, but he’s not as confident as when he arrived.

Lacey. 5. Not good enough today I’m afraid. Sloppy mistakes led to undue pressure. Always rated him, but not today. Tbh, I would have subbed him at half time and gone to 4 at the back.

Rawlinson. 8 MoM. You get what you pay for. Solid, big and brutal. We’ve needed his aggression at the back. Not sure in a 3 helps him, but it is what it is. Loved to see him squaring up to players. Committed to the cause.

Chicksen. 7. Always looks the part. Calm and collected. Prefer him at lb or lwb, but he’s dependable to be open to a pass and to do his job well.

Kelly-Evans. 6. Love the enthusiasm, others seemed to think he was mom material today. Sorry. Didn’t see it. Can’t cross regularly enough.

Arter. 6. Composed and distributed well. Needs to up his fitness levels now so he can get more than 60 in. Will prove to be an astute signing, but not the hard man I was calling for.

Palmer. 7. Far and away, best Burchnall signing. Always there, always available, always trying to look forwards. Made a few mistakes, hence not mom, but did a decent job.

Vincent. 7. Put himself around the pitch well. Got involved with most things, but silly mistakes always tar his performance. I’d still pick him each week as hopefully he’ll improve and cut out the silliness.

Ruben R. 7. He’s not the striker we need. He’s a behind the striker kinda player. For me today, he was everywhere. Which is part of the issue. Dropping quite a way back, trying to run the ball through 5 guys to create the perfect opportunity. Just hit the thing man!

Wootton. 6. Lacking in confidence since January imo. Not in form striking wise at all. Some good hold up play and back to goal stuff etc…but he needs to put himself about more in their box. Force the issue.

JoB. 6. Open for a pass and a few good, neat touches. Not the most sensible challenges when defending! They should have had a penalty imo due to his faffing.

Francis. Not enough to do anything imo.

Burchnall. 6. The longer we go, the more I question the actual coaching. Same mistakes and same issues eg such as “create lots and the goals will come” well, we need them to come now mate. The team doesn’t have the killer instinct imo. Up front and across the pitch. Individuals do occasionally, but does the team set up to be hard and nasty? No.
Think some of the ratings are a bit generous for the match but your explanations are bang on particularly on Richardson, Ruben, Vincent and the coach himself over the course of the season

I agree mate. Was right behind it, it was certainly close to going in unless one of their defenders managed to get to it…..

Slocombe: 6.5 Good save from their free kick, and one dodgy pass aside, didn't really have a lot to do

Richardson: 6 Some good runs first half, but seemed to lack confidence & energy as game progressed

Chicksen: 7 Solid performance. Good player & rarely put a foot wrong

Rawlinson: 7.5 Again, a solid performance. Won a lot in the air & dealt with Asante well

Lacey: 5.5 Poor first half. Sloppy in possession and slow to react. Improved 2nd half

DKE: 7 Good energy & offered himself well going forward. Good cross for Lacey header (or is my memory playing tricks?!)

Arter: 7 Some testing corners first half that had them scrambling to clear, and decent covering back 3. Some wasteful deliveries though, but does often provide a more direct pass forward through to Woots/Ruben rather than out wide.

Palmer: 7 Solid performance. Good link up play when further forward, and solid when moved back when Arter went off.

Vincent: 6.5 Ran his socks off and competed well, but slightly lacking in quality.

Ruben: 7.5 Very involved & great enthusiasm to tackle & pressure opposition. Unlucky with first half chance (did he just fall over?)

Woots: 7 Solid performance. Good link up play, really good defending our box, and composure to score peno.

O'Brien: 6.5 Good energy & enthusiasm in the middle. I couldn't see what happened with the penalty incident..

Thanks Don. Was a great move to create the chance and nice to see Lacey manage to get his head on one.

Woots was what, about a yard out. So I don't think he had enough time to get over the ball to direst it in

I might be misunderstanding your comments. But, why is the confidence being drained out of him at Notts?

He has license to get forward, which is clearly the strong part of his game, he’s Burchnall’s type of player and apart from a couple groans from the crowd he’s been well supported.

He’d have been better off ducking.

You're probably right. A bit on the high side.
