Sam's best positions are attacking from the left or playing as supporting striker.

It's unfortunate for him that everyone looks at him and sees a target man because of his physical stature, but he's not at his best in that role.

Interesting it would definitely be. Personally I wouldn't play Sam in that position, in that formation but it's certainly an option especially if Wootton isn't available.

I think we need to see it...
He says pace is one of his main attributes...we might be missing out on something special, a threat in behind that has a great goals per minute ratio that we just don't have right now. Arsenal didn't keep Thierry Henry stuck out on the wing and at still only 24 maybe we have the National League version

If played in that position I wouldn't see him as a target man. Just someone strong, quick & who can regularly kick the football in the net

    We can but dream

We'd certainly have much more of a threat in behind but I'd worry the ball would come back a lot quicker and more often with Sam up top rather than Wootters. If selected then a change of approach up to him needed IMO. I trust IB to know whether he thinks that would work whether voluntarily chosen or enforced.

With that team selection I'd also be more than a little concerned by our lack of aerial ability.
