For a sense of what life was like in Donbas before the invasion, I've recently watched a documentary called The Distant Barking Of Dogs. It's one of those programmes that stays with you - following a family through the fearful grind of living somewhere being endlessly fought over. It's here if anyone might be interested:

Football being the most important thing of the unimportant things in life is my favourite quote about the beautiful game.

Exactly. It's entirely possible to moan about a draw with Chesterfield (I didn't), and also be outraged by events in Ukraine.

There are far more important things in life than Notts being promoted, but Notts being promoted can still be a burning desire.

Anyone any idea why Abramovic is involved in the peace talks?

Equally intriguing is why there was poison around supposedly introduced by hard-line Russians, yet I don't think anyone would dare act in such a way without sanction from the top.

Religion maybe ? He is Jewish same as the Ukranian leader, also lived close to the Ukranian border when younger. Putins mate, trying to look after his frozen assets?

On another note, where are the French, Spanish etc? Only the UK, Yanks flying every day close to the border. The Italians fly a Plane now & again as do the Poles. Had to laugh ,even the Swedish Air Force have flown a few times, albeit a Lear Jet

Wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't a set up by the Ruskis, to try to put distance between Putin & Abramovich in the public eye

I read it was because he is very close to Putin - not sure what difference that would make though!

I'm surprised the Yanks aren't hanging back, waiting to see an opening where they can make a profit. That's what the French have learned to do, hang about till the rebuilding contracts roll in then elbow the UK and rest of the EU to one side.
