Let's remember most of the social media material being discussed this morning was NOT posted by Cal Roberts, whose two significant contributions yesterday were posts congratulating his teammate Ruben Rodrigues.
I think back to the days of Gazza. Some relatively young, talented footballers don't come from backgrounds that equip them with the emotional intelligence and maturity to handle being the focus of growing attention. They make mistakes, but it doesn't mean they need to be savaged by supporters on social media, many of whom don't display any more maturity or intelligence themselves. I'm sure IB will deal appropriately with anything Cal has done wrong, but it's no reason to be writing off a young player who - with the right guidance - can continue to be a real asset to this club and go on to have a successful career.
