    Completely agree with this.

We always go for managers who might be experienced, but are typically on the decline, and have failed at other clubs. I have no idea why getting sacked from a club like Newcastle qualifies someone to be able to manage us.

One of the reasons I liked the Val appointment was because he was on his way up in his managerial career. And their fans were disappointed to lose him.

I'd like to see a young up and coming manager. Someone with enthusiasm and a bit of charisma. Someone we stick with through hard times. Not sacking him because we are only 5th in the league.

Someone like Maresca would fit the bill. Links with the club, good contacts at Man City for any prospective young loan players. Learned off Pep.

And so, no I wouldn't keep Bruce. But I think he'll be here next season.

And just following on from this. Considering our budget and the fact we need to find gems from lower leagues.

Do we know who the best young managers are in Leagues 1 and 2? Are they being considered?

Why do we always look for past-it managers with experience, who aren't that bothered about being our manager, when there are managers in lower leagues crying out for an opportunity at a club like ours?

My thoughts haven't changed for decades now. We need to build a proper team, with proper players and a proper manager. No more shopping on Gumtree or or giving old Actors bit parts to keep their career going. We don't recruit with a view to being something. When we get the chance we don't take it. When Pulis got us 10th beating all the top clubs home and away even (Except one , Man City) we spent NOTHING to kick on. We should have spent big, changed the manager to kick on and be playing in Europe. I really don't care now. Bruce is a joke, shouldn't have even been on a long list let alone a short list. The players? I don't care anymore what happens to any of them. I really have had enough.

I couldn't give a toss one way or another if Bruce goes or stays. But whoever replaces him will inherit the same load of rubbish.
    My sentiments entirely.

As we sit here now I can’t see how it would make a blind bit of difference if we had Klopp as Head coach and Guardiola as his assistant. The players don’t give a damn, they are sat on big lucrative contracts and will be happy to see them run down.

The owner never has had an idea what is going on and will continue to sit on his hands and do little, even if he could.

Complete basket case of a club at the moment.

I don't agree that you have to spend big. I think recruitment has to be right. It is the single biggest appointment we can make.

We have spent big in the past and we've rarely got value for money. £15m for Burke, £10m on Brown Ideye, £12m on Chadli. Even in our current squad, £18m for Diangana, £15m for Grant, £8m on Zohore and £6m on Johnson.

Ron Gourlay has to do a seriously good job in the next few transfer windows. If he doesn't, then we won't see premier league football for a while.

I agree with you but until Lai is gone, things will not change for the better. I think that Steve Bruce is a decent bloke but past it as regards management. Lai and the board, though, appear to be clueless and until they have been cleared out we will just have to suffer!

I'd like to give him another season especially to see what players he can bring in on loan in the Summer.

Totally agree 123!! Luton have not spent big and neither have Coventry who play better football than us.

Grant and Diangana - 30 million? Some would say 5 million for both is too much! Robinson -my God does he steal a living? Giving a new contract to Livermore - he wouldn’t get in the Harrogate Town team!!! A captain should rally the troops FFS. Phillips and Zohore - absolute garbage and in the treatment room more’

What next a 12 month contract for Carroll!

Desire - sweat - fighting for the badge should be the norm.

The club is rotten to the core!! I am sure Bruce knows already he has the job for next season already!

Don’t get me started on Molumby who can’t even get in a s hite team already and he’s s hite too!

I agree with having the right recruitment 123 but when Villa spend £220,000,000 on players and we spend £12,000,000 on ONE player and a couple of million on cast offs and no hopers I think you can see just how small we think as a club. No Ambition. If we don't keep up with the spending of Premier clubs then we should settle for being in the Championship or lower.

Not a good comparison as clubs with billionaires have money to burn. Compare us to any championship side except the top two ie Luton!!!

Excellent players are around in league 1 and 2 and it’s called recruitment, Cleary may be excellent but he will be gone and don’t blame him! 123 is spot on!
