I attended this yesterday as a player sponsor. The event was fantastic as was our access to the players. We had a 20 minute talk from IB on the training ahead which was really interesting. He was engaging, articulate and happy to take any questions. The training itself was dynamic and was obviously enjoyed by all of the players. Getting to meet the player you sponsored afterwards was brilliant too. They were all willing to chat, none of it seemes a chore to them. I even managed a wee chat with Doyler who was charming.
A fantastic day, well worth the money for sponsorship. Well done to the whole club!

That is great to hear, so good to know that the club is so much more open these days. Maybe next season it can do something for season ticket holders, too - enter a draw and 50 fans get to attend a training session.

Out of interest, how much does it cost to sponsor a player? I'm sure that's something we could do collectively on Mad if enough people were keen...

Sounds an insightful and enjoyable event for the sponsors. Personally I'd find seeing a training session of interest, a bit of an eye opener and no doubt very impressive when compared to my training days for a Young Elizabethan League match as a ****ager.

If my memory is correct there was light training during the week, gradually building up to full on training Friday and Saturday nights, interrupted by a game on Sunday morning and some heavy training on Sunday afternoon. Pedro often took part in the training.

I’d be up for that, I was having the same thoughts when I watched this video. We’d obviously have to sponsor the player destined to be the Mad “fall guy” that season.

I used to go and watch train quite regularly down Wilford Lane when Jimmy was manager. That was always first team v reserves in a match situation with occasional stoppages for Jimmy to impart his wisdom lol. Very different from today I think.

Thanks for the info. Sure we'd be able to sponsor a few players at that rate - maybe a fan favorite and a fan least-favorite to show we support them all equally in spirit, even not in terms of who attracts the most criticism after a defeat.
