Between 1961 through 1969 when Harry Potts was in charge is the happiest memories I can recall in a long history of watching the Clarets.

Then I watched every game (home & away) we played in the 2015–16 season, which was our first season back in the Football League following our relegation from the Premier League the previous season.

Of course Sean Dyche was in charge and it is right up alongside the vivid memories of my 1960's Burnley experience. Some of the football we played was beautiful to watch as we quite often literally ripped teams apart!

Why Dyche cannot replicate that free flowing, intense style I know not, perhaps it's because the EPL is harder to play in than we give it credit for?

I mentioned last week Dean Smith is no muppet and I think in there lies this season's problem. Other managers have evolved and implement different playing styles (Viera is but one shining example), Dyche has stuck with the 4-4-2 that swept the Championship aside accumulating 93 points along the way, but dinosaurs have a habit of becoming extinct.

What happens next will be of significant historical interest in the context of Burnley Football Club. I hope Alan Pace gets this next phase in our
club's history spot on.

Good post BT and all true - the Vokes and Ings partnership was something of beauty - Vokes didn’t really get the recognition he deserved a big lad mobile , intelligent, great header of a ball and his link up play was great , Ings I don’t even need to say do I just a great footballer.

I will never forget Vokesys header against Belgium in the 2016 Euros-boy we could do with a header of the ball like him.Seems just like yesterday.

I a beauty that one - nearly got filled in at Leeds away when he headed a peach of an equaliser and I was the only man that jumped up in the west stand at elland road - didn’t go down well in their end.
