Absolutely if we do get a top class Centre back in in the summer he will fall further down the pecking order, he isnt good enough for where were going same with a few other players.

Club captain, should we sell him in the summer if we get a reasonable offer? He cost us quite a few goals and points during the first half of the season but should we give him a full pre-season with Howe?

Mike Williamson at Gateshead is a far better CB
I like the bloke but yes - sell if the right offer comes in and we have another top class CB signed.
Aye. He's not really good enough, sadly, as I've grown to quite like him.
We should sell. But I wouldn't be surprised if he stays.
The club strategy will be to remain strictly within FFP so I think there is more chance of selling ASM (I'd be gutted) for big money than selling Lascelles for a pittance.
To me, the biggest risk with him is relying on him as the linchpin of defence over the course of a season.
He is a liability but I'd be more upset if we don't sort out a proper striker than to see him coming off the bench or playing in cups. We have bigger fish to fry.
Aye, Trini, we do.
A striker is by far and away our biggest priority-and a bloody good one, at that.
I can’t see us not going in for another CB in the summer (Botman or similar) so if he does stay he’d be 4th choice at best.
We might keep him, and he might even do better starting a season not with the captains armband, under Howe’s management, with better players all around him.
Been around for a long time now, and he was an important player for us for a while… I think he still has something to offer if he can accept being right down the pecking order… and keeps another player who’s long time settled in the club/city in the squad at a time when we can expect to see a number of new faces coming into the area/club… which probably has a value all on it’s own.
Agreed, I like him but sadly not quite up to standard, loyal, never causes any trouble, Eddie will probably put his arm round him and gently tell him the score, after that it’s up to him whether he stays or moves. I imagine he wouldn’t have any difficulty finding a new club, but not one with the high profile we will have next season. It would be a shame in some respects as he’s been here a long time now, and been through all the crapp. I would keep him for another season, just out of sentimentality, but Eddie will forget any sentimental issues, that’s his job.
its a tricky one. he hasn't reached the "potential" that he had - is that cos of 2 years non existant coaching - plus he was quite seriously ill with covid and suffered long term effects which i have heard are now possibly resolved.
i'd like to give him the chance of sustained decent coaching - for a season - and see how he progresses.
he was initially tipped to be a world class centre back, be brilliant if he could get back on track
he's also fairly crucial to our home grown/ english quota maybe ?
