Whoever claims it at the end of the season will qualify for the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League at the very least.

There's a strong chance that they get bumped up to the third qualifying round depending on the result of the Hearts vs Hibs Scottish Cup semi-final this weekend.

    Finishing fifth
As far as Dundee United, Motherwell and Ross County are concerned, they don't want Hibs to reach the Scottish Cup final.

A Hearts win at Hampden will mean fifth place will be good enough to secure Europe and whoever finishes there will go into the second qualifying round of the Europa Conference League.
Thanks mate, I was actually looking beyond the third qualifying round but have now googled it and there is also a play off round before group stages. I'd imagine we'd be very unlikely to reach the group stage tbh

We aren't getting near 9/9 pts though given the fixtures

So yea its definitely worth looking at that game as if Motherwell fail to win it boosts our top 5 chance

I'm not happy with 5th though, given where we are and the two teams we are competing with for 4th then 4th absolutely has to be the aim. That said, a draw will be the best result but a Motherwell win is actually better than a County win in my opinion.

So you aren't happy with Europe?

I want 4th obviously but we are still weakened just now so I'd rather the chance of ending 6th and missing out completely was eliminated from the equation asap so 5th is worst case (a nice worst case to have really)

Of course I'm happy if we qualify for Europe, that's not what I said at all. I want us aiming high not settling that's all. A Motherwell win still leaves everything in our own hands and our much superior goal difference could be a factor, so I'd rather it was Motherwell we were competing with for 4th than County.

Still canna believe neither the ref or linesman seen the Motherwell goalie being a few yards outside the box when he punted it leading to the effort of the post.
    That was Shocking.

Motherwell have a decent record against Hearts at Fir Park in recent years, so a win vs County gives them every chance of leapfrogging us when they play Hearts. You have to assume our chances of taking anything against the OF is slim, with both games potentially costing us our superior goal difference over County. We could end up having to go to Dingwall needing a win to get 4th, with any other result putting us out of the European places altogether. Best case scenario would be a Well win vs County then a defeat at home to Hearts leaving the Dingwall tie to potentially be a winner takes 4th, loser takes 5th.
