There comes a point where certain players need to be retained and the same with a manager and we try to improve that way.
IB spoke about the average age of the squad being 24. There are plenty of players that have a lot of scope to improve. However, we do need a more physical and experienced spine, hence my second sentence. 3 man mountains. CB, CM and CF
Grimsby are a good side, with plenty of players retained that came down. Macatee and Sousa were probably the best players on show tonight, and both were in the main marshalled well.
He loaned in Zak Brunt and Connor Parsons and persisted with Ed Francis. If the coach can't see the weakness in the midfield how on earth will he ever remedy it. He doesn't want strong players, he sees them as lumps who give the ball away, Burch is the problem.

I couldn't care less who the better team was on the night, even if it probably was Grimsby. To be 1-0 up going into the 96th minute, you have to see it out. Unfortunately a young player made a stupid mistake, and here we are.

For me, we need more leaders in the team next season to instill a tough mentality. Collapsing when the going has got tough has has cost us too many times this season. In contrast, Grimsby went behind in both games at ML, and both times found a way to win.

Agree, but with the amount of backroom staff and analysis how did we end up with a centre midfield of basically just Matt Palmer pretty much all season.
We've now lost Wootton, Sam is out of contract and there'll likely be a bid for Rodriguess.
That squad is going to start pre season flat as a pancake if we're not careful with possibly 40 goals taken out the squad.

12 players out of contract or back to their clubs. 2 players still in contract who are rumoured to want out and away…. Rodders and Roberts. Wootton already gone.

Tell me again… we’re 3 players away from being decent at this level?

Same again next season if IB is still here, that's the problem.

Clubs from higher levels are probably looking at Notts players because they're at higher levels and they're freebies out of contract now most of them. Being in non league is utterly killing the club.

Summed up the season. We apparently have all these highly rated players but they go missing when the chips are down. I wanted Wootton,Roberts and Rodrigues to grab tonight’s game by the scruff of the neck but one goes missing (again) one goes off injured after 20, and the other did alright but nothing that will get agents from league 1 clubs flocking to his door.

Building up your goals totals by knocking in tap ins against the might of King’s Lynn and Altrincham doesn’t make you a good or effective player. I can’t remember when we last had so many over rated players. The way we lost tonight was bad enough, but no surprise to anyone who had a realistic view of our abilities this season. If you get decent offers off you go lads(including the head coach) and good luck. We need a complete rethink about how we get out of this league next season.

If we sell Rodrigues it will need to be for a sizeable fee that we can invest in replacements, otherwise we need to keep him. I also think we really need to keep Eli Sam who has been criminally underused this season relative to his ability, but I'm a bit worried that if he's got offers elsewhere he'll see that as less of a gamble than staying and risking being a bit part player again. He's far better than that, in fact there are very few players anywhere at this level with his ability.

We got what we deserved. We've occasionally looked a good team, but we've never looked a promotion team. Too many weaknesses which haven't been addressed. I'll be a bit disappointed if Burchnall is still in charge next season, because we have made no progress under him.

But that is his style, sideways and backwards, so hardly surprising.
