You can't be 100% focussed on the job on hand when part of the mind's occupied with swapping Nottingham for Nailsworth. I hope you're wrong.
I don’t really care that Burchnall has gone, I think he’s generally underachieved. I do care that a 44 game season came down to one game where the manager knew he was going, and probably the players as well. I find it hard to believe that this didn’t contribute to our piss poor performance.

I like FGR, I think they’re a progressive club, but I hope they crash and burn with IB in charge.

Utterly agree with all the above. Can't believe our board thanked him and FGR for way it was handled! They had obviously been whispering in his ear and he had been making arrangements behind our backs during that crucial run in period. I hope both parties get what they deserve.

Wouldn't be a massive exaggeration to suggest that FGR are just as much responsible for Notts missing out in the play offs this season as Grimsby Town.

I’d be more hacked off with the players if that was actually the case.

Interesting. General question: would you say there’s an obvious grooming ground for new managers - or head coaches, to be more accurate? Is it “the PE teacher” type - as dismissively described here and on Twitter - where it’s coaches who’ve studied the game but never played at a high level, and are working in academies/under 23s?

We seem to be long past the stage where old players were the first names to be bandied about by fans whenever a new manager was required.

Kenny Jacket always seems to go to Notts when I play football manager 😂 Leigh Curtis in a tweet mentioned Michael Appleton and Kevin Nolan. Personally Appleton would be a great appointment and might enjoy just being a head coach after the year he has had

What do you expect him to do? They obviously approached the club who must have agreed to let them talk to him. The club seem happy the way it was handled.
If he had walked out near the end of the season then that would have given us something to moan about. It wasn't his fault another club wanted him.

    Fair comment.
It could hardly have worked out any worse for us though if he had cleared off earlier and a caretaker or player/caretaker had taken charge.

Hindsight is wonderful, if the caretaker lost all his matches in charge and we didn't make the play offs he would have been as popular as big Sam.
