We seem to be long past the stage where old players were the first names to be bandied about by fans whenever a new manager was required.
Whether fans like it or not football is evolving at an alarming rate. The advent of data in the game has created a whole new career path and it’s the same for coaching. People with little or no professional playing experience can now follow an educational pathway that sees them become competent coaches.

I spoke with someone today who said he knows academy players that are already enrolling in coaching courses in case they fail to secure a career playing professionally.

There is obviously now a clear career development pathway for aspiring coaches/managers.

If he had walked out near the end of the season then that would have given us something to moan about. It wasn't his fault another club wanted him.
I think those of us bringing this up know that already.
We're cursing our luck and the situation in general, that this massive distraction came along at the most crucial time of the season.

So IB jumps ships just 80 hours after the final whistle. He chooses himself over the club, all the players, the fans, the board that backed him...and the goal we were shooting for all season had as its backdrop, the departure of the leaders of the team.
Don't blame him, but what's that taste in my mouth? Nothing good.
Will we be following FGR wanting him to succeed? Can't speak for others, but I won't.

Kenny Jackett. Knows the ups and downs of managing a football team, articulate and well known in the football world.

    Quoted odds of 8-1.

He was offered a job in the football league two divisions higher than us and probably on better wages.
No brainer. Mind you I am not bothered either way if he stayed or left.

Michael Carrick in the odds. Would be a left field option.
I wonder if Doyler fancies it?

I'd rather any poster on NCM get it before that dimwit
