Unfortunately it doesn't seem to work that way .
The longer you stay in the championship the more expensive it gets .
When Stendel got us up in 2019 from league one the wage bill was around £8m , three championship season's later it's £14.6m .
Whilst I'd take the point Tony Stewart has more oil in his lamp than the those who ran the shyte show over here until recently it just goes to show how sticking around in the championship can eat the finances .
That said football is a risk and reward industry and there's no way around that unfortunately .
