Agree with the earlier posts. A lot of young men of fighting age in the crowd, whether they were born in Ukraine or not.

Not that strange if you think about it for just one moment...

One of the legacies of our Imperialist history is that English has become the defacto "global" language taught in schools. Most of the younger generation of Ukranians speak decent English.

If you were fleeing a war you'd probably aspire if possible to make your way to the closest country where you are able to communicate?

    See, it wasn't that hard!

I saw Ukraine flags in the away end with Leeds, Burnley and West Ham badges on them.

He's 38, so how did he get out?

18 to 60 year old men aren't allowed to leave, have to stay and fight the Ivans.

Possibly by not complying with the martial law, crossing a border, and prioritising his family.

It's very easy to sit from the comfort of your armchair and judge someone else's actions, however you know almost nothing about his individual circumstance.

If the bleeding heart stuff is just parked for one moment, it's easy to find out that roughly 45% of Ukranians consider Russian to be their native language. Even higher number in the east of the country.

You're right, maybe they should flee to Russia.

50% of 18-35 year-olds in Ukraine speak English.
