My Uncle used to drink with his mates in the Miners Arms on Meadowbank Road and I can remember that when the landlord put up the price of beer by 1d (old money) they all walked out in protest and went over to the Royal George.

Least we have paid is £1.75p for a 500ml beer, with brilliant scenery at Calis beach, can see Geri Helliwells villa on the island, just off Fethiye Harbour bay, with loads of other islands.

Had a drink up there 80 T/lira which is £4. A single martell brandy 500 T/lira which is £25. Didn't have a brandy.
I stayed a few times in Calis Beach at the Oykun hotel, very handy for everything.....

When I got married first time Patty I lived on Pembroke Street in late 70's to early 80's, and had some good nights in The Miners and Royal George.
In fact there were a few pubs to choose from around that area at that time with Green Bricks (Turners Arms) and the Holmes Hotel and also the Meadowbank Hotel which is now Ackbars.
