    You're not wrong.

I honestly had no idea who he was. Just looked at their league history. Looks like he won the Northern Prem, finished fifth in NL North, then won the NL North, then established the club in the National League. Not bad at all.

I can’t blame Wootton at all. 5k a week is double what I think he is worth weekly.

I like the bit where it states the Hatters have financial clout. Just goes to show that big crowds doesn’t always mean more money.
Pompey averaged over 15k whilst Stockport wished they had capacity to compete with that.

It's a hell of a lot of money for a player who might not even start for them.

I don't know what formation they play, but presumably Madden will be their first-choice striker going into the start of the season. Unless they play two up front, I can see him sitting in the bench a lot.

Still, I'd take 5k a week to sit on a bench.

Good luck to Wootton though. He always gave 100% at Notts. He scored a lot of goals (and missed a lot of sitters), but I'll remember him more for his hold-up play and workrate.

Parkinson seems a good shout, done his time with a smaller club, offers some continuity from Burchnall in the nice football stakes but presumably knows how to grind out results down here as well with two promotions to his name. Be happy with that.

Parkinson took over after Alty had suffered a double relegation, this season being their highest finish in the pyramid since 2010.

    2016/17 - tier 6 - 22nd/22
    2017/18 - tier 7 - Parkinson takes over
    2018/19 - tier 6 - 5th/22 Lost PO SF to Chorley
    2019/20 - tier 6 - 5th/22 Won play off final v Boston Utd
    2020/21 - tier 5 - 17th/23

Can’t argue with that, moving them forward every season.

They didn't win the national league north but got up through playoffs, which is still a great achievement.

I would welcome Parkinson to the club for sure, he's managed to get a part time club established in the conference (not sure how many players were actually part time though) so appears to know how to get the most out of the players at his disposal.

Had been a PE teacher before that at a unit for "Extreme Emotional Behavioural Disorders for Boys", youth player at Reading and then Port Vale but didn't break into the first team at either and then became a Football in the Community coach at Crewe.
