I think we have to accept now in players as well as managers, our owners are going to try to sign or appoint upcoming players and managers, with limited or lower level experience and hope it pays off
Personally i think there approach is wrong, i would rather go for players with proven experience at the level we are or above, and likewise go for an experienced , and successfull manager at our level , not some trainee like IB who might come good in 2 or 3 years
Kevin Nolan produced some of, if not the most, turgid, infuriating and unimaginative football I’ve ever seen. Anywhere.
Fortunate with our loan signings the season we made the playoffs but never forget how woeful we were in the run in….and that was just a preview of what the start of the following season was going to bring.
Literally pissed up any chances of starting well up the wall and should take just as much blame as Ardley (with peanut head taking the top honours) for our relegation. It was a disgrace the shape and discipline our players came back from pre-season in.
I hope (with some optimism) that he’ll never darken our doors again.
He also gave us the only half-decent season in years. We were flying high at the top of the league for a good part of the 17/18 campaign. Yes, the football was very direct, but at least we weren't pushovers. There was a buzz around ML back then, whatever your thoughts on his tactics. He also steered us clear of relegation the previous season.
Of course it all went horribly well - it always does, doesn't it. But at least he gave us some relatively good times too.
Now how could something that was going so well for half a season, go so badly badly wrong for the next half?
Top of the table high flyers, to stumbling into playoffs and 1 point from 15 start the next season? Hmmmmm
Try getting ya noggin round that?
