It’s an age thing is it? Just the narrow minded thinking that ends up with society getting what it deserves. I’m an old fart but never in a million years would I prevent any female, relative or not, from deciding what she wants to do with her body. Heaven forfend!
As for Brexit, everyone was entitled to vote yay or nay, just that those who lost can’t get over it. Grow up, we live in a democracy, so get used to it!

You should accept the consequences of your actions and not be expecting to be able to simply kill the problem.
I have a degree of sympathy for this viewpoint but I seriously doubt that most women/girls would see abortion as simply a form of contraceptive nor view it as an easy decision to make. As baggieal rightly points out, people make mistakes (especially when young) and the consequences of going through with the birth could be considerable. These might range from the break up of a relationship, the girl not being able to go forward into education (and the impact of this on her life choices) or the state having to support her and baby.

As a film buff I've recently been rewatching old British kitchen sink dramas like Look Back in anger, Room at the top, Saturday night, Sunday morning and A kind of loving from the late 50s/60s. All remind us of the living standards and class attitudes of not so very long ago but also, in those pre-Pill years, of the pressures and consequences of unplanned pregnancies.

There need to be rules on access to abortion but I think this country generally has it right.

Some women in the early sixties/fifties did as they were told by the father and couldn’t even drink in some bars. Things have changed.

Bit like if your child was gay - you would support their decision or be a c unt of a father and lose them!
    I disagree.
Age has its part to play but not exclusively.

I don't believe that it is an age thing. I am of the older generation but in no way would I deny any female the choice to do what she wants with her own body. By the way, I voted for Brexit but what's that has got to do with opinions on abortion is beyond me!

Any decent father would be supportive of what’s best for their child and ultimately what that child wants.

Many against abortion will be over 60 and no doubt the same mindset as those who voted Brexit. It’s 2022 for f uck sake!

Bit like a father who has a gay child disowning them. Any loving father would help the child and be supportive of what they want!

Everyone in life makes mistakes even surgeons but people should respect other peoples decisions. Many guys who are negative about abortion should ask their partners and daughters views on this topic and you can bet if will be a different viewpoint unless they are 60 plus and brought up with limited freedom throughout their own childhood.
If you read my post thoroughly I stated that there are cases where ''unfortunately'' abortion is a necessity. That covers your argument on rape and incest etc. I know of two women one of who has had three and in the other case four abortions for no other reason than they got pregnant through carelessness. I also know of one poor girl who had to have an abortion due to the terrible deformity of the fetus again proving my point of necessity. I cannot subscribe to your opinion that it is the woman or girls ''right'' to kill the fetus because it is not wanted.

Good post Leicester! When I said age thing I should clarify that many of a certain age have a mindset that has not moved from the sixties ie a multicultural society - gay acceptance etc etc. My own grandmother was a perfect example and her views had not changed over the years. Luckily and hopefully the majority have changed with the times but many are still set in their ways. The easiest option is always to blame the young but I personally find a lot of elderly can be ruder and more stubborn.

Going back to abortion - any loving father would accept a daughters decision on abortion and support her. The daughter could have been with a dead head and she’s in a great job or doing well with education so a baby might not be the right option at that stage.

PS - some might call me an old fart as nearly sixty but luckily my viewpoint is in 2022 but that’s probably due to a young wife and young kids.

Thought this was a run up to you finally coming out of the closet Al'. 'Some would say' it would explain a lot of your emotional outbursts. Never mind, maybe next time eh 😊 ?

Does an unborn child not have a right to life? Outside of health issues, rape and incest, it's morally wrong & both parties involved must take responsibility in my view. Nothing to do with age or voting intentions, just doing the right thing rather than selfishly seeking to erase an inconvenient truth.
