Not much we disagree on CiB, but I'm hoping we keep Brownhill. He never really got to grips with the PL, but I'm fairly sure he was running a decent Bristol City side in the Championship when we signed him, and he chipped in with a few goals for them as well, something which has eluded him playing for us.
I think he could be influential back in the Championship, but we'll probably never know, I would think the signing of Bastien means he's going.
Only three players achieved more than 75% pass success last season:- Dwight McNeil 79% from 992 passes: Josh Brownhill 78% from 1149 passes and Kevin Long 78% from 105 passes.
Only 4 players made more than 1000 passes:- Tarkowski 1194 with 69% accuracy: Brownhill 1149 --78% accuracy: Westwood 1125 with 75% accuracy and Taylor 1002 with 72% accuracy.
Perhaps Brownhill does have something to offer to those PL clubs who are showing an interest.
He has scored 2 and had 4 assists in his time at the Turf. His pass accuracy has only been bettered by Jack Cork in 2020/21 who had 84% success and Dwight McNeil (2020/21) who had 80%. Brownhill once again had 79% success and the season before it was 83% --the best in the club.
Ashley Westwood in the same period had scored 3 and had 6 assists, however, last season, only Cornet featured in more goals scored by us than Brownhill. Equal to him were Weghorst and Vydra.
It is fair to say that Brownhill has truly taken over the Jeff Hendrick mantra as far as Clarets fans are concerned, he will be better off leaving the club from his point of view.
I agree sinkov. Did you realise that, in the 22 games in which Hendrick featured in 2020/21 for Newcastle they picked up 30 points, an average of 1.37 per game as opposed to 15 points in the other 16 games.
Last season he did not make one start under Steve Bruce and when he left for QPR he had come on 4 times as a sub. Newcastle had 10 points from 17 matches when he left ---an average of 0.6 points per game. I love stats me! lol
I know CIB hates Brownhill but I don’t believe he was bought to create and score lots of goals , he was bought to get a foot in break things up and give it to others who can be creative, problem we had was really that was Mcneil and his form had dropped off considerably, if you add to that the fact that Dyche had the midfield strictly rigid and never getting high enough up the pitch or beyond the forwards heaven forbid.
What I would say is that several premier league teams have expressed interest in signing him and we could yet lose him to one of them for 15-20 million, the answer at the end of that is the lad must have something or they wouldn’t be even enquiring.
To be honest Sub, Jeff is so far off my radar these days I didn't even realise he'd gone to QPR. Just checking the stats there and he featured in 11 games, of which QPR won 2, (18%), of the 41 games he didn't feature they won 18 (44%).
Accoording to Wiki his loan spell at QPR 'did not go well', 'he had many poor outings' and they have packed him off back to Newcastle. What now for the lad, Eddie clearly has no use for him, D1 perhaps ?
