I guess they extended because he was to be sold but that didn't happen, his reps probably told him no matter that no one came in for you because once the takeover is announced you can legally resign from your 1 year extended contract anyway by way of theTUPE laws, the cynic in me also says this fact was probably made known to a whole host of clubs that come takeover time he'll be a free agent. To be honest I wouldn't want him back - he's shown his true colours and took legal advice and jumped ship so all that DCFC want is some compo

Admittedly players contracts are somewhat different to that of a normal employee, but a takeover of the club would not in normal circumstances make him a free agent, the contract passes onto the new company in most cases.

Now the agent might of argued that the club didn't have the right to extend the contract whilst in administration, not sure why this would be the case, as the club is still operating legally whilst in administration.

I suspect that advantage has been taken of the confusion when CK withdrew and Clowes came in. There is then the question as to whether its worth the effort , time and money to sue LB for breach of contract, probably not, whereas taking a case to FIFA, that compensation is payable is more likely to succeed and have less cost and distraction for the club.

I for one never rated him defensively, so like those other two full backs that went off to the Blades, only to disappear from view, I suspect the same will happen to Buchanan. Good riddance in League 1 you would have been bullied out of the game.

Lowe had a good start at SU and then dropped out of favour. Bogle took time to get regular games but, eventually, did. He got a serious injury at some point which saw him out for the latter part of last season.

Chester and Hourihane signings confirmed, a useful couple of players IMO. Obvs time will tell, but pleased we seem to be attracting players with experience and who will be good at league 1 level.

It's very exciting seeing all these players coming in, making me feel positive about the new season (though expectations are still underwritten with a sense of feet being firmly on the ground).

Would be nice to have Davies sign up, not sure why there is a a delay but here's hoping.

Talk of Collins a striker that used to play for Cardiff and also Stearman to sign.

Chester played with Davies at Hull a few years back - maybe when they were in premiership: so logical that they would reunite, hopefully

Hope so too, GP. What I find encouraging is that these long rumoured signings have taken place despite Rooney’s departure and the, relatively small, disappointment of Buchanan jumping ship.

Suggests to me that Rosenior’s Derby can be just as much of an attraction as Rooney’s and that our new owner has not allowed things to be thrown off kilter by the contract extension ‘chicanery’.

All very encouraging but I’m surprised Curtis hasn’t put pen to paper.

I'm wondering if he is trying to negotiate an coaching role option at the end of his playing contract? Would have thought with the quality of players coming in he'd be keen to get back on board for one more season.
