    What is the correct pronunciation of DCs surname? Does it rhyme with.....

    Close as in "close the door"

    How's as in "How's things"

    Close as in "please don't stand so close to me"

    ... or something completely different?

    Taught a kid in Derby once with the same name (and spelling). It was definitely pronounced as in the things detectives search for.

    Correction. Just spoken to someone who used to work for him and apparently it’s Clowes as in with the ‘ow’ making a noise indicating pain, so
    Clowes rhymes with cows or crowds.

    Quite...but I’m always a little uncomfortable when you start talking about thongs, GP.
