Wizz were in dispute with the Airport, over what i don't know. They cancelled the "holiday" flights from DSA but still offer flights to Eastern Europe. Maybe 3 or 4 Tui planes are based there, but no long haul. They lost that when TUI moved the plane to base it at Newcastle a few years ago. It needs at least another Ryanair/Easyjet to base some aircraft there, but would they only be moving the same passengers to Donny from Man/EMA and Leeds? Maybe only chance is to offer them better slots.
Hope they keep it running, it's a great facility for South Yorkshire.

I'm suprised KerrAvon hasn't come into this thread to blame the airport problems on Brexit.

He would have actually have been right for once since the flights from Poland and Eastern Europe were mainly used by EU workers.

yeah, and Barbados. I think these planes fly in from Man and EMA specially for the route, unfortunately not based there. Don't think i'd book a winter holiday going from Donny when it could be closed by the winter. You could go to Florida also but go with Eirann(spelling) thro Dublin.

It does a fair amount of cargo, so hopefully that might help to keep it open.

    👍

I hope it stays open. It’s the most stress free airport around but the problem is that it’s stress free because it’s quiet.

I’m always happy to pay extra to fly from Donny. I would probably pay an extra £250 for what I’d save on taxis etc and convenience.

Latest on Donny airport....it appears they may look at it be nationalised. Fingers crossed this is given great thought. It appears to be working at Teeside airport.

My father in law was a draughsman and drew all the glass frontage for the airport.
It was a Doncaster company that DoD the work.
The last job he would have worked on was the NYS but they lost out and he retired not long after.
His retirement present was a season ticket watching the Millers.
