I thought it was a decent crowd from being sat in the south stand. Hard to tell what the attendance was as all areas had people in them. When the attendance was announced everyone applauded including Belgium and French fans. No in the ground would have questioned the attendance. Mexican wave was going off which looked pretty good. Most kids near me were cheering for France and most adults kind of wanting Belgium (underdog) to win.
Hope it’s a French Vs England Final two good sides both play football.

Does it matter what the masked figure for attendance is. The main factor is, the NYS. is now a recognised stadium to accommodate any European fixture.

Well done everyone associated getting our our club on the European football map!

What have have S6 got to say about this and their ‘massive’ pig hole ?

    Two different points though

Telling porkies about attendances to make the tournament look attractive doesn't really reflect on whether or not RUFC have the capability of putting the game on.

It might though say a lot about the lack of appetite for the tournament in Rotherham amongst the fans

It might not just been women's football that the Rotherham population dont have an appetite for, but football in general, given how much we struggle to fill the NYS for RUFC games, and why after 10 years there is still no need to expand the ground.

Having said that, people tend to forget that we used to average around 3500/4000 at Millmoor and, not surprisingly, the level reduced further in the DVS years.

That's true, but it is also sad to say that the new stadium factor and the fact that we have had a considerable amount of success since moving there, has not led to real continuous growth in the fan base.

When those without a smart meter get their gas and leccy bills soon and see what is going up to, there will be less.

Not so. All true Millers would be cut off before that.

Exactly, the season's with higher averages since at NYS are when there are higher away crowds during championship seasons. The number of home fans hasn't grown that much. TS prob wondering what he can do, they froze season ticket prices for years and that didn't make much difference. Maybe we have to think differently to attract fans that can't commit to a season ticket.

Grand daughter works in the George Wright Hotel and some Belgium fans gave her some tickets for Monday(?) game, she said the fan had a hand ful of them. Someone's been dishing them out like confetti.
I paid to go and watch England(?) at NYS years ago and it was pretty dire. Saw the goals on SSN last night and it appears it has got better.
I won't be dashing to go again, GD offered me a free ticket for Monday but no thanks.

Don't know if it was your intention to imply criticism of the fans in Rotherham, but that's how it appears. Rotherham, along with Sheffield, provides a regional attraction for fans of women's football. You could equally blame fans in Donny, Leeds, Hull etc.

The fact that NYS was chosen as a venue says something about its size, about its facilities, about the atmosphere that can be created in a small(ish) family venue, and about the hospitality. These are encouraging factors, as is the focus on our manager when chosen for a series of national broadcasts.

There is much that we would like to be better about Rotherham (town and football club), but a bit of optimism wouldn't go amiss.
