Watched the highlights. Seems like we created loads of chances but undid ourselves by fannying about at the back. Pretty standard stuff.
The post-match interview with LW was a bit concerning though. Sounds like Langstaff can't stay fit/healthy. Presumably this is something that has occurred since joining us, otherwise why sign him? He managed to stay fit and healthy at Gateshead.
Seems like we have a disjointed squad at the moment. So definitely need a couple more players to come in and improve the starting 11. Ideally players who aren't ones for the future or constantly unable to play.
Well it’s a risk to say the least, as much as like to see players get better and prove a point if I could swap him for a striker with a goal scoring pedigree whatever age I would. The fact is we can’t carry any passengers as we need to try and win the league and that means every player brings something.
It's strange one, described as a 'recurring illness' rather than a recurring injury. Haven't really heard that description since the days when Chris Short suffered with a stomach fungus that frequently left him debilitated. Hopefully this is just a case of bad luck, after all it's not unknown to recover from one bug and go down with another soon afterwards because your immune system is still compromised.
I'm imagining Langstaff will be the primary replacement for Kyle Wootton, albeit they're not identical types of player. Mitchell presumably will be the back-up, and like many I've seen flashes to suggest what he can do, but remain to be convinced. Perhaps he could grow into a better player having previously been in the 'second fiddle to Wootton' mindset, but if he's going to ignite his Notts career it has to be this season.
