Trade and increased profits.
That is what will drive any greedy c??? To sell their soul.
I read somewhere America started to trade more with with China was the notion that by doing that they thought they could change them. Bollo x it was because their big companies wanted cheap labour to increase their profits and keep the shareholders happy.
China hasn't changed and is instead it's old self who has used the influx of exports money to develop its own economy and create it's own burgeoning middle class who in theory will buy their own home made products (due to higher taxes on their imports) with the result being they will slowly become less reliant on exports.
This all means they are free to do what they want with prisons for Muslims etc etc and Taiwan and not give a fk about sanctions as they can see they will do nothing other than create inflation and unrest in the countries imposing them.
We should never have allowed China to become so big without getting rid of communism because they hold a lot of grudges for wrongs they want to right from the past.
Clothing and silk better than chinese tat! China needs to be reigned in as like Russia - horrible f uckers! Freight costs going through the roof and the dollar exchange rate shocking so costs going up!
In life you get what you pay for!! Many supermarkets looking for alternatives on Chinese reliance
If China invade Taiwan which will happen then imports will be hammered!

So tell me which country/countries are going to pick up the production that’s done in China?
Not everyone can afford luxury items, most people shop at Primark and the like for a reason, affordability.
Your “tat” AL is what many others like my daughter Holly have to rely on due to a very limited income.
You make it all sound so “black and white” at times mate but in the real World it just isn’t.
There’s a reason China is hiking it’s prices and shipping costs now......because it can!
There is no threat to their dominance and if there was ever to be, it’s takes decades to “tool up” and create the production capacity.
There’s a reason that most of the World’s great technology that we all rely on is made in China, it’s because wages are still cheap and they produce good product.
If your iPhone or Samsung was made in the U.K. or the USA you’d be paying four or five times more for it.
I don’t see any country breaking China’s dominance in the next 50 years.
The West only has itself to blame for the threat China now poses. Just as with Russia, the potential seen for trade and greater profits saw Western companies increasingly invest in the country and outsource their manufacturing to China due to cheaper production costs. Initial home produced goods were poor imitations but China has also now learnt to compete with its own goods which are of decent quality.
In many was China mirrors Russia with its creation of a billionaire elite and a narcissistic autocratic leader in a country where most still live in comparative poverty under a restrictive regime. But Western greed has contributed to both these huge former communist country's enjoying a return to global power.
China had the unfair advantage of being a communist command economy which meant if a western country wanted to build a new production plant in China it wouldn't take years to build. They identified where the wanted to build and the PRC did the rest by just booting out any residents or current occupiers of the land with minimal compensation if any and it would always be done in the name of being for the greater good.
In democracies it is much harder to trample on peoples' rights and massive delays due to get planning permission, compulsory purchase orders and get tree huggers off land because a bat was seen dossing around with some rare newt by swampy.
We basically don't give a fk about who makes are c rap as long it is cheap.
Suicides in Chinese Foxconn (iPhone maker) are shocking and working conditions are horrendous with 1 or 2 days a month if you get permission. Not the 28 days or so we get in the UK plus bank holidays and weekends of course.
Watch a documentary on Netflix called American Factory and see what happened when they opened a car windscreen plant in the USA just like Lai the owners of the company had no idea of western workers rights and were shocked at how inefficient (their opinion) the American worker was because he wanted statutory breaks and holiday.
Personally I try not buy Chinese stuff. I buy Panasonic tv made in Poland and my clothes aren't made in China (and no I don't buy the latest Albion top).
Not so sure about Shale as don't know enough about the impact of extracting it, but totally agree that there now needs to be a real focus on constructing more wind/sea turbines and a bigger exploration of solar power methods to help get us weaned off our over dependence for energy on others. As these are unlikely to generate enough extra energy on their own I agree that nuclear power also needs to be invested in.
