    Nancy Pelosi

Why the f uck would she inflame tensions at the moment by going to Taiwan? Stupid decision!!

The last thing we need at the moment is for China to react or join forces with Putin!

Don’t the Yanks have any sense!!! Is Taiwan even worth fighting over?

Pelosi is a right wing republican, is she not? It’s unlikely that she would go to Taiwan without having had discussions with senior figures in the Republican Party and members of the US military. Biden is seen as an old dodderer and the Republicans, and some members of his own party, are not at all bothered about blindsiding the old fella. It wouldn’t supreme if some factions in the US military and some politicians fancy their chances of giving China a bloody nose if the opportunity arises; they possibly think that it’s better to show them who’s boss now rather than later, when China has grown even stronger. The psyche of the American Right can be difficult to fathom…….!

The time not to go was before going public with this....but now?
She should go....its a free country.......doesn't go now and China will grow bolder......sure we are in the third world war already......can't back down now......get the nukes ready and starting getting targets set......a little bit of R.E.M. is needed now...

Sadly (or not?) the answer is "yes". Taiwan not only currently produces 80% or more of the world's microchips that are critical to so much of today's technology but is also strategically important as the South China Sea carries around a third of global trade. The US, along with Australia and Japan, will almost certainly take a stronger stance on China/Taiwan than they have on Russia/Ukraine.

Xi Jinping's regime is equally as disreputable as Putin's (not that the West is adverse to cosying up to the Saudis) but I agree with you that her visit is probably ill advised at this present time even though it is hard to disagree with a lot of her concerns over China.

    China is another wannabe state.
Any country with nukes seem to think that's all they need to be a big player on world stage.
The policy of going after gas and oil from dictators has proven unreliable. Similarly, going after cheap labor and turning a blind eye to the low wages and horrible working conditions in Asian factories will now be used to beat the west over the head. Cheap consumers products is all young people want (the brain dead type)
Then there are the young people who have already figured out that they are screwed by historic decisions and are out actively campaigning against this warped system we are living in.
China wants confrontation. That looks like their hand and Taiwan is a good place to start a war.

I think she should go, China needs to ease up on its wider ambitions in the region, Taiwan is important as a buffer and must stay independent.

She is definitely right to go and show that the USA won't just roll over and let China take back Taiwan. Unfortunately, although it was inevitable, the Chinese have made fools of us over Hong Kong, breaking their agreement on continued democracy and freedoms. Taiwan is important to the West and we need to demonstrate our support.
