She's not one to go on the world stage normally from what I can recall, but she wouldn't be doing it without Biden's say so.

This way Biden can keep a buffer between his administration and Pelosi and see what China does.

China have to be stopped at every opportunity. You can see what they have done in Hong Kong and what they are doing to their own people in modern day concentration camps.

We've let China become too powerful due to our rabid consumerism.

Give China an inch over Taiwan and it will be Japan next.

They hold a lot of grudges for what they perceive as past wrongs done to then by the likes of Japan.

It's one thing stealing our intellectual property at will, but it's a whole new ball game if they take any action against Taiwan.

There is an old saying."Can't see the wood for the trees"
It looks and is beginning to feel like the next great war after 1945. It seems to be moving in that direction and the start of another Axis power.
The form of democracy we have in the west is under threat from within and from without.
I hope the star wars programme is finished, cause might be needed soon.....

I seem to remember reading about the discussions that our politicians had in 1914, before the outbreak of WWI, when some felt that we did not need to get involved while others believed that because Germany was getting stronger, a war was inevitable and it was better to have it then before they became even stronger. I wonder whether the Americans are having the same thoughts about China?

Also, there have been conspiracy theories regarding super secret, highly advanced weapons being developed by the Americans; I just wonder if there is any truth in those rumours and if so, whether they might be tempted to use them before any other country acquires the same technology? Whatever, the World is a very dangerous place right now; a World War, though, would probably reduce the population by a considerable amount…….

I think this piece explains how infuriated the Chinese are.
    From BBC....
China to conduct live fire exercises

China's People’s Liberation Army will conduct three-day live fire exercises starting from tomorrow, its state media has confirmed, with all civil ships and planes forbidden from entering the exercise regions.

China also suspended imports from 35 Taiwanese exporters of biscuits and pastries today, in a warning ahead of Pelosi's visit to Taiwan.

Biscuits and pastries are important trading items between Taiwan and China, including Hong Kong.

About two thirds of exports from Taiwan in 2021 were biscuits and pastries, with a total value of $646m, Taiwanese media reports. In 2020, the value reached $660m, accounting for 37% of the total export.

It is estimated that over 100 companies in Taiwan will be forced to stop doing business with China after the sanction became effective.

    Biscuits and pastries are important.
Do ya think China are being a bit cautious on it's sanctions front?

MI5 and the CIA had a joint press conference a couple of weeks ago warning of the dangers of China.

They gave examples of their theft of intellectual property and how they dug up a crop in the USA to steal the gm secrets it held.

They are so powerful now they do it with impunity.

We've let them become so powerful and now it's too late to do anything as we're too reliant on their cheap tat and they have developed their ever increasing Middle class and don't really need us.

To think the 5g infrastructure was going to be built by Huawai.

That is how stupid our leaders are. They were going to let them do it until the outcry.

To be honest I am glad she went ... having announced it she couldn’t back down. We can’t have the Chinese dictating who can travel where. Give em an inch ....

Russia and China will implode over time .... may take quite a while ... maybe not in my lifetime ... but you can’t keep people under lock and key and suppress freedoms forever ...
